Does anyone have both Lanie and #27 in order to do some hair color comparison photos? I love the blonde on both of them and am not extremely attached to my Lanie's hazel eyes; am considering giving her the dark blue eyes instead as a compromise.
I couldn't begin to match the high quality photos so far! But I wanted to add a few notes:
The test tube stoppers are not permanent. A little wiggle and all three popped right off, which I think gives even more play/display/photography value.
The circular "light source" underneath the microscope can spin, and actually has a mirror on one side! I was pleasantly surprised by this. It is a little superfluous considering any reflected light will only be shining on to the bottom of a slide that is not see-through ~ but still fun.
The book in my set had gummy residue on the covers, and the pages were all glued upside down. It slightly bothers me but I am hesitant to call customer service for something so trivial.
I love this one! I've had it since I was a kid too. The pieces are really versatile. The only thing I don't like are the shoes. Mine actually came with different shoes... flimsy sandals that were meant to be flip-flops with beads on the toes. They're made of that soft "leather" material... They look alright, but they don't stay on in play very well.
Hi BuckinghamAlice! Are the shoes you mention the ones that go with the Kwanzaa Outfit? I've noticed that it often comes with those on eBay, and I want to message the seller saying "Wrong shoes!", ha. Did you get your Play Outfit secondhand or from AG, because I wonder if for a while they sold them with those flip-flop sandals?
Is there information available about the change that seems to have happened to Gwen between February and March of this year? I noticed that her picture on the AG website has changed (her hair is in a half-ponytail and they moved the headband to her dress as a belt). I found a Wikipedia article that says the "new" Gwen has longer bangs, too. Does anyone have first-hand experience?
I'm a little annoyed that it seems not only will Gwen's price sky-rocket on the secondhand market after 2009 because she is an LE doll, but possibly even MORE so right now if she is the "original" Gwen (that for some reason only sold for a month or two??!?). I'm a bit confused, and would love other opinions. I could just be misinformed!
