I would give this an A as well. I think the lavender is very nice looking on the doll and is a less popular color choice throughout the historical collections. The detailed trim on the both the shirt and pants really make the outfit for me. I personally think the shoes are cute but a little like Kit's. I think the fabric is very soft and would be comfortable to sleep in.

I had been hesitant to purchase this but I am so glad I did. It looks great on both Nellie and Sam and it really brings out the coloring in both of them (especially Nellie). The necklace and shoes are a nice added touch that get thrown in with the set. Overall I definitely give it an A.

I love this doll. Although it seems a little fragile if someone was rough-housing with it, I think it appears of great quality. It is one of my favorites for her collection and I am very glad I went through and got it.

When I first bought this set the smaller pieces of wicker on the chairs were broken and I had to send in for a new set. Despite this the set I have had the new set for maybe 6 years and it has held up just fine. It actually is a very beautiful and elegant piece. However I think it looks a bit plain without the tablecloth and accessories on top

I must say, this piece is cute and sturdy but also very large. I got mine premattel and over time not all of it has held up the best. The wood has a covering that is the "finish" and along the base of the legs it has started to peel up. Not the best look However I love that the screws have a little decoration that covers them so you cannot see them. If you have the room for it I would definitely say go for it. I keep the bed in the basement where it is suseptible to more changes in temperature and humidity (and who knows what else) I am fairly certain that the peeling wood was most likely just in my case but I wanted to point it out anyways.

First version, wooden guitar.
Ag4alison, I'm going to disagree! I have both of them as well and I think the plastic one looks like just that...plastic. I was lucky enough to score the old variation for 10$ on ebay (my best deal so far) and fell in love with the quality (in my opinion of course). However both are nice but I think the retired version appears more like something Lissie would play. I also think it shows more details. I didn't notice a glazing on it but I should probably go downstairs and check...

I think this outfit is very cute and I don't remember any trouble (other then the time it takes) to lace up the top. However the string that laces it DOES fray. At least for me. I went through 2 replacements and the one I have now shows signs of fraying. If you do get this outfit be careful when lacing it. Mine was premattel so I don;t know if this is still the case with mattel sets.

I splurged on this set on ebay and Im glad I did. It was definitely worth it. It looks great on her and also in my display on a dress form. I remember when I went to order this I had been saving up for this set (I had thought 28$ was SO much for a dress...little did I know how much I would end up paying for it...) and when I finally went to place my order I was informed that they had just sold out. I never stopped kicking myself about that one. If I had tried harder and called the store in Chicago I may have been able to get my hands on one. Anyways I am always worried about breaking the windmill. It is also hard to display because it doesn't balance very well right side up. I'm thinking about putting some nails on the wall to see if I an get it to balance up on that.

I splurged for this piece on ebay. In all honesty it was most likely not worth the price for most people but I LOVED it once I opened the box. I believe it once went for $18 and I think that would have been a great deal for it. It appeared well made and VERY detailed unlike what we normally see with Mattel nowadays. I actually was amazed it didn't once sell for a higher price and kicked myself for not being interested in getting it then. Of all the retired pieces you could splurge for I think this is one of the best. You should definitely go for it (in my opinion). This is one thing I actually thought was better in person then in the pictures!

I loved this set. It always seemed well made to me and the tea caddy is very sturdy. I agree with shadowrose that the queen cake could look a little more realistic. I also noticed that overtime the spoon DOES tarnish and never looks completely the same (or at least for me) after cleaning it.

I wasn't as crazy about this as I thought I would be. It is very plain and almost seems boxy on the doll. However Im sure it would be very comfortable and it is more like something I would have worn as a child. You need to pull the red ribbon tight in order for it to look better.

I thought it was a nice quality as well although the doll cannot really hold it. She can have the pouch wrapped around her wrist but that is about it. Also it hardly magnifies objects and there really is not much of a focusing dial. It looks nice sitting next to her on display but I am not sure what else you would do with it.
