As soon as free shipping was available, I immediately purchased this set, as this one an accessory set I wanted, regardless of whether Saige the doll would ever come here or not.
Easel with plastic cup to hold brushes Both pieces are plastic. I am a bit disappointed with how light-weight the easel is. I do agree that with heavy play, it could easily break. The plastic cup has a little notch to stick it in the gap in the easel to attach the cup to the easel.
Five faux paint tubes These are just plastic paint tubes (not real tubes filled with paint) molded so they look like they are in different stages of use. Very cute.
Four Brushes the brush handles are made of plastic. The brush ends are actual brushes with two flat brushes and two round brushes. I am glad of this little detail, as any painter uses of a variety of brush types when painting, and glad AG included this.
Painter's Palette Again made of plastic, already has "simulated" paint blobs on the palette. Cute, but I am not 100% keen on already having paint on the palette. When I paint, I prefer using palette paper over my palette to keep it neat, but to each their own.
A sketch pad Love the sketch pad. Very realistic, made of thin drawing paper. My favorite part of the set.
A Portfolio with Five Sketches I am disappointed the most with the portfolio. It is a file folder more than anything else, rather than a handled portfolio that I commonly use. The sketches are nice though.
Five of her paintings on real canvas I was expecting the paintings to be on a stretched canvas on a wooden frame, but instead the paintings are on canvas panels. Again, just a personal preference. Still they are nice, but if you are not getting the set for Saige specifically, the lack of blank canvases really hurts the set in my opinion. And with all the finished paintings, I would have expected a frame or two to hang them up.
Overall, I give the set a B. It will certainly get used, especially since Saige is now here, but I guess I had much higher expectations only for AG to fail to meet them. I have a feeling the price ($48) really is what it is due to the finished paintings more than anything else, as I cannot justify the rest of the set totaling $48. As soon as I can, I am going to head to the craft store and pick up some blank mini canvases and make some of my own paintings or half done paintings to increase the variety a bit.

My Saige was purchased direct from the Chicago store by my colleague.
Doll I really am liking the doll a lot, or perhaps I am biased because I am really liking Saige's book character. I have gone through a couple of redhead dolls (childhood Felicity, a Mia that did not last long), and I really prefer Saige's hair color out of the three. It seems like a nice rich red, not the more orangy-red that some other AG dolls have. My Saige's wig seems very soft, though maybe thin, and the part is slightly off center to the right. I am still playing around the with the wig, but am glad that it is not as curly as Caroline's wig is. It just brings down my stress level a bit knowing that it will not be super high maintenance. The length is perfect for all sorts of styles.
Saige is only the third doll I bought with freckles, but she is the first I like them on. Mia just was not a keeper overall, and I just do not like Kit either, as much as I try, but Saige's freckles give her character. I think in some way, the combo of her dark red hair with the freckles reminds me of Anne Shirley or some girl traveling the Oregon Trail, so I find Saige endearing. her face paint is also lovely, as she has the right amount of lip color to balance the bright hue of her hair and eyes.
I like Saige's eye color as well. It works well with her hair color, though I am not sure how common the color is in real life.
Grade: A (slight ding for the wig)
Outfit
Saige's outfit consists of the dress, earrings, boots, underwear and ring. I personally feel the dress is a bit lacking, as it seems short, and not really anything special - made of a solid color thin jersey stretch material with a embroidered belt. I suppose this was a way AG could keep costs even, since Saige's ears come pierced, which normally costs $14.
The underwear is your standard underwear.
The boots are cute, but I wish they were a bit more slouchy like the book illustration. I am not sure how much I will use them, but they have plenty of mix and match potential.
The earrings are a cute star like shape. I think this is where I will truly have the most fun, since this is my first doll with pierced ears. The ring is also cute, but I have yet to try it out, as it was late last night before I had a chance to unpack Saige.
Grade: B+ (dings for the dress)
Book
I am about halfway through, and like the book a lot so far. Saige seems really sweet, as I can relate to her need to carry around art supplies and losing track of time when painting. I have not read all of the GOTY books, but it seems to be lacking in illustrations. Within the book there are only two full page illustrations and one double page illustration. The illustrations are gorgeous, and you can definitely see an improvement in Sarah Davis's art when compared to the illustrations in Kanani's books.
Grade: A
Overall, I give the doll an A-. I personally like her due to her love for art, and plan on keeping her mostly as herself, the first time I am doing that with a GOTY doll. For my collection, she is unique, and definitely different enough from Caroline. She is unique enough from other dolls currently available to warrant purchase, but her hair could get tangled especially with younger children. Her pierced ears are definitely a bonus.
I had Nicki for a bit as well, and definitely prefer Saige over Nicki. Saige's overall colors are more vibrant, and if you missed Nicki, Saige makes a great alternative.

Caroline's Work Dress Item# F2718 Price: $32
Caroline chooses this outfit when she helps Uncle Aaron on the farm:
- A stylish-yet-practical cotton dress printed with chains of flowers and featuring puffed sleeves, lace on the bodice, and pink trim peeking out at the hem
- A cap tied at the chin with white ribbon and trimmed at the top with pink ribbon
- Tan boots that are just right for lending a hand in the vegetable garden
As I am collecting for Caroline, this was a new addition, and a lower priced item to easily add to my collection. Prior to this, I was mostly neutral on many of Caroline's outfits. I always felt that there was not one outfit that stood out to me as being "Caroline". With AG's release of this outfit, I was thrilled. DressDress is all one piece, sewn together to look like it is layered. Material is your standard thin sturdy cotton. No difficulty in putting it on, even with an extra slip underneath. The pattern is pretty, and complements Caroline's eye color/hair color combo well. Grade: A- CapCap features a pink ribbon adornment and side white ribbons to tie underneath Caroline's chin. The cap, as Catlin mentioned, fits well enough to not warrant the additional bow to keep the cap on. I almost find my cap too tight, and there is no way it is going anyway even if I swing Caroline around. Made again of the standard sturdier cotton that Felicity and Elizabeth's caps were made from. Grade: A- ShoesThe shoes are a nice sturdy material, and a nice shade of grey-brown that I can see blending well with the mud Caroline would accumulate on her boots when working on the farm. They were easy to get on. My one complaint, which may just be with my pair of boots, is that the lace is too short to tie a bow. I will recheck it again tonight and try tightening the laces, but this is a disappointment. Grade: B Overall, I like the look of this outfit, and feel it fits Caroline's character the best of all of her outfits. It would have been nice if the pieces were actually separates to layer on, but I am guessing it would have bumped up the price of the outfit to more than people would be comfortable paying. I would recommend this outfit if you are collecting for Caroline or have a regency girl.

Sweet Spring Dress for Dolls + Charm Item# F3621 Price: $30
My American Girl® dolls make every occasion sweeter in this charming outfit.
It features:
- A cream-and-gold knit dress with crochet lace pattern on the skirt and pretty flutter sleeves.
- A pink ribbon is woven into the drop waist, and a pink fabric rosette accents the neckline.
- Pink espadrille shoes have satin elastic crisscross straps
- A translucent pink oval barrette for her hair
- Includes a "Smart" round charm for the doll's charm-keeper necklace.
I was immediately attracted to this dress due to the lack of dresses for my modern girls, and the nice neutral colors. DressThe dress is made from a knit material, slightly off-white with metallic threads. There is a satiny slip under the dress, though not very opaque. As a result, if the doll is wearing any colored underwear, it will definitely show through. The knit material has a bit of stretch, which is nice. The metallic thread is not overdone, and adds a bit of zip. The dress also has a pink flower attached to the left shoulder, which adds a bit of spring/romance to the dress. Grade: A- ShoesThe shoes are a light pink matching the color of the flower on the dress. The shoes have a bit of platform to them, featuring the canvas-like material as the sole. They also have crisscrosed pink elastic with a bow on the outer side of the ankle. The shoes may be a bit confusing for younger girls, and I found it worked best to put on the elastic first over the foot, then slip the shoe on. I like the overall look of the shoe, but they seem a bit tight to me, as my doll's toes are clearly showing underneath, much like someone whose shoes are getting a bit too small for their growing feet. Grade: B+ BarretteThe barrette is a translucent pink meant to match the pink accents of the rest of the outfit. Cute, but just a standard hair accessory. Grade: A- Overall, I like this outfit a lot. I usually do not spring for MyAG oufits for my modern girls and rely on seamstresses, but this one stood out to me as a must have. I think it would have been better priced at $28, but it is still cute. If anyone wants pictures, please PM me.

I recently bought Grace with the party hat for about what it retailed for. As others have mentioned, Grace is cute, but just way to small! He is shorter than Caroline's Inkpot. Otherwise, he is cute and cuddly. B for scale issues.

I must say, I like this set a lot. I don't have much experiences with past dish sets released, but I am pleased that the plates, mugs and utensils are heavy metal. The pitcher is ceramic, so that could be prone to breaking. I think nararabbit covered most positives and negatives. Should also mention that the plates also have text printed on the bottom:
F1330 c 2012 American Girl Made in China 1842TPT
A- due to the cake. All the other pieces are wonderful.

I just received my Loft Bed unexpectedly yesterday (never got a shipment notice and I was backordered until Nov. 12). After looking at how it was packed and how it is meant to be put together I am opting to keep the pieces separate, that way I can build more of a room than have a single huge piece of furniture. Overall, I do like that the bed is constructed with wood, but then feel thrown off that some connected parts are plastic. I just feel it makes things uneven. However, all the pieces are very sturdy and of good weight, so cannot complain there. I have not gone through all the little accessories yet, but most are going to be kept packaged for now, as I do not want a lot of little pieces being lost, especially with the inevitable move in 2-3 years. I decided to give the bed for my only modern doll at my place at the moment, Annie, and she is not big on neon. Otherwise, I do like it a lot. The light purple color reminds of my my old bedroom before I moved when I was 7, where the walls were exactly that color. Still, I feel the price was a bit high (maybe $200 vs $225 would have been better; since most of the little pieces are just tiny plastic or paper accessories), but I will enjoy it, which is always what is most important in the end. Grade: A

I recently purchased a 1989 version on eBay for about $15. One of the bows is undone, so I will need to fix that at a later date. Otherwise, i am impressed with the nightgown. I do not know its history, but it is very white. The only thing I am not thrilled about, as others have mentioned, is the bunching of the lace by the shoulders, and the thinness of the material. I was expecting it to be a heavier flannel like Addy's or Kirsten's. Still, the nightgown brings back memories.

I love Caroline! She is a very gorgeous doll with plentiful ringlet curls and gorgeous aquamarine decal eyes. I also noticed that her eyelashes tend to curl up a bit like Marie-Grace's do, but not as extreme. Her meet outfit is ok. A- for the total doll due to the meet outfit, a resounding A+ for the doll alone. (Sorry for the awful lighting - it it going to rain over the next 24 hours, so it is super cloudy outside.)

I am really glad I purchased McKenna (renamed Alex). I am very pleased with her mold/hair colour/eye colour combo, as I was a bit worried it may irk me like Elizabeth did. However, the hair is a darker enough colour that is works really beautifully. I can see what everyone else has said about McKenna's wig. It is really a beautiful thick and silky wig. I received my McKenna around the third week of July, so like others have posted about the changed wigs, my McKenna doll has the short hairs in the back, which I am glad American Girl fixed. The only minor issue I had was the stuffing was a bit off, so her head was noticably tilted in a way that irked me. I played around with pushing the stuffing around her upper body, and the tilt is much less noticable. I also do think that AG also fixed the falling legging issue. In the short time McKenna was in her original outfit, I did not see this issue of her leggings falling when she sat. Overall, I give the doll an A. I understand the qualms folks had about her being to similar, but for me, she does not have too light of hair as Elizabeth has, and she actually has a playable hair length which Chrissa lacks. She is by far a keeper for me, and probably close to if not my favourite out of the GOTY dolls I own. Alex by hockeypensgal, on Flickr

I have Marie-Grace and Nicki, and Marie-Grace definitely has more brown in it compared to Nicki. I am about to head off, but I can post some comparison pictures tomorrow evening. I have seen a McKenna in person, and her hair definitely has more blonde to it relative to Nicki's. So even though they are all described as caramel, there are differences. As I slowly add to my NOLA collection (one collection I plan on getting most of the pieces), I added Argos recently. Got him for just under $20 on eBay.
This is my second AG pet. For some reason, I was thinking that he would be just about an inch taller, but he is still cute regardless. I need to fluff up his fur, but I will work on that later. (Alex (fka Marie-Grace) is currently in her modern persona, so Argos isn't part of the scenery).
Argos is cute, but I definitely would not pay $28 for him. Regardless Alex is happy to have Argos around.

I was not even looking at Nicki, but saw one recently when I was in process of buying Jess. And I ended up unexpectedly falling in love with her. And I never thought I would like a freckled doll. To go along with previous reviews, Marina (fka Nicki), depending on how her hair falls, does partly show her wig cap. It is not blatantly visible, but goes in line with what has been said about her thin wig. She was well taken care of by the previous owner (a child, now teenager), so her hair was just a bit tangled, but not dry. I bought a hair pick for Leah (fka Rebecca), and it has been just a blessing for me in dealing with curly wigs. Her hair is now in banana curls. Her meet outfit is ok, again due to the same reasons other have mentioned. Since it was also mentioned, Marina is stamped with Pleasant Company, so she must have been purchased early on I am guessing. Anyway, now for pics. I will add more pictures at a later date of Marina in non-Nicki outfits. And a side by side with Alex (fka Marie-Grace) for hair colour comparison:

Here is Marie-Grace donning the outfit (minus the boots, which Sam has claimed): I have tried the sweater on my chubbier PM dolls, and did not have a problem buttoning it. The boots do not fit my PM dolls the greatest. I wish the ribbon was a bit longer. I did not try the tights on a PM doll, but had no problem getting them on Marie-Grace. Otherwise, it gets an A- from me. Yay for blue outfits.

I bought my Marie-Grace NIB on eBay for about the same price I would have paid had I bought her during the 25%-off Apocalypse. I really was interested in her after finally reading all three of her books, and really relating well to her shy character. Marie-Grace (AKA Alex in her modern persona) came to me today, much to my surprise, since when I checked the delivery status, she was still marked as being somewhere in the midwest. Anyway, she came in the usual packing ... Her right eye opening seems a bit less round/smaller than her left eye, but it does not really bug me that much. Anyway, I believe she is a first-production run, since she seems to match and look like the description that Dollhouse Designs kindly wrote about above. Like EofA mentioned, M-G already has the annoying flyaways. I will probably take her braids down at some point. As for her meet outfit, I really hate pink, and especially this colour of pink, so the outfit gets a C from me. However, the doll itself gets a resounding A. I love the new face mould, and this is my first brown-haired, blue-eyed doll, and this makes me even more happy to have this combination added to my collection. Her wig does seem a bit thin, but not any thinner than Kanani's, I would say. What I also find great about M-G is that she really looks good in any colour outfit. Some dolls just cannot pull that off, but M-G can. I will throw in more pictures of her in modern clothes, once I get around to actually buying some, but in the meantime, here are pictures I took for another thread of M-G in Felicity's outfits. She makes a wonderful colonial girl. First Meet Dress School Outfit Christmas Gown Spring Dress Summer Outfit: Cardinal Cloak Riding Outfit Work Dress Nightshift and Cap These outfits really make me wish AG makes a bonnet for her at some point. She is definitely a hat doll.

(I'll add another photo of the slippers.) I bought the set NIB on eBay. Again, this was another piece I wanted to "complete" Addy's nighttime collection. I have a Mattel set, but it seems pretty nice. Both pieces are woven with a soft yarn. Her slippers seem a bit big on her feet, which I was a bit surprised with. The set is (was) a bit overpriced to me (AG price, I mean), but I am happy that I have it. Grade: A-

I just bought mine secondhand. The listing stated it was PC, and I do indeed think it is (or is possibly a mix of the two) based on the pictures already posted. The cookie is smaller and the sandwich is definitely made of clay, but the egg has noticeable paprika on it.
The tin could use some polishing, but at least it is not rusted over (still has some shine to it).
The napkin is a napkin. Not much to say there.
This is my first lunch/food accessory set (hoping to get one more), so for now, I am happy to at least have some food for my dolls to play with/pose for pictures with. Plus, I love tea, so to be carrying around lunch in a tea tin seems quite appropriate.

I found a decent priced set on eBay. It is the original hand knit version, copyrighted 1989. Like the pictures of the original version, mine is black and off-white in colour. The material seems stretchy, or that could be just from the fact that it is secondhand. I had no problem getting the hat on Kirsten. Again like others, strings inside of the sleeves kept getting caught on Kirsten's fingers. Overall, I really like the set, since Changes for Kirsten was probably my favourite book of hers after her Meet story. It reminds me a lot of knit items my grandmother used to make for me (not this detailed, but the overall feel). I can just imagine tossing on her skating outfit coat and scarf on top of this, and she really will be set for the Buffalo winters, haha. Grade: A Edit: Pics added.

I have a PC set I bought secondhand. This was one always I always wanted for Kirsten (living in a snowy place, you tend to immediately be drawn to warm, winter clothing).
The blouse is nice, though the pinhole closure shows off her skin (I do not have the winter underwear set). The flannel definitely has gotten piled, but I am sure it would be in the same condition had I gotten it for myself as a little girl. B+
I love the skirt. I like my neutral colours to begin with, and the addition of the flower design at the waist, and a couple of borders of colours at the bottom makes me very happy. The skirt seems to be made of a felt material, which I wish they used a more studier material so the skirt would hold its shape better. A-
The ribbons ... are ribbons? I do like the pattern on them, and they seem a but sturdier because of that than her meet ribbons or school outfit ribbons. A
Overall, I always wanted the outfit, and now I have it, so I cannot complain. It also works for me as her Christmastime outfit, due to the red and green trimmings.

Just got mine. I bought this secondhand, so the ribbon is entirely frayed, but the music box portion works fine, and that was more important. It appears to be a PC version - says "Made in Taiwan especially for PC" on the gold sticker and (c) 1991 Pleasant Company on the last page. This is my first accessory for any of my dolls (not including the Meet Accessories, which I always got along with the doll), so I am happy to have such a cute little thing to display with my dolls now. And who can not love something given to Sam by Uncle Gard?

Just got my wicker table and chairs today. (Will add pictures later.)
Anyway, they are marked PC (sticker under the table, tag on chair cushion), but not entirely sure if they are, since the daughter letting go of the stuff appeared to be only in high school.
Anyway, what I tend to always forget now that I am focusing on furniture and accessories is how big this stuff is. Of course the dolls are 18 inches, but I still underestimate how big furniture pieces are, such as chairs.
The set seems very sturdy, and possibly more apt to play time than other sets. Being bought secondhand, the wicker on one of the chairs has a few "threads" spinning off, but nothing crazy. I really like this set, as it reminds me a lot of the wicker prices in my childhood days that we had out on the porch and sun room. It will make for some great scenes with my dolls, even if it is not time-period appropriate for a given doll.

I just got my set today. One goblet is broken, but I knew that, and the price I paid reflected that defect. (Need to figure out if there is a glue I can find to seam it back together.)
Anyway, the set as a whole is lovely. I believe it is a newer set based on QNPoohBear's pictures and descriptions (the wicker table and chairs I also bought are marked "Made in China for Pleasant Company, but the daughter who was letting go of the stuff looked like she was only in high school, possibly freshman in college).
The glass is very sturdy, and I am surprised by how heavy the pieces are. It is very good for a dessert play scene, though I will probably still look for a set (have not decided whose yet) that has the more standard china-like plates and cups. The gold utensils remind me of my parents' set, which they received as a wedding gift.
For some reason I have four napkins. Not sure how this happened, but this is what the seller was giving as part of the set, so I didn't complain.
Overall, a great first dish set for me, and very happy. A

I just bought the set from a family friend (sans anklet) for pretty cheap (well, because she IS a family friend). I like these PJs so much better than my old ones (AG PJs from 1996), and they will be Se Ah's. I feel like the top can be used for mix and matching (Se Ah lacks any sort of tank top), though the material is a bit thin. Actually, I like the elastic on the slippers. It may push her toes out a bit far, but at least they will stay on her feet. Fits Se Ah (a PM doll) just fine.
Overall, an A from be.

I got my Emma (Kanani) yesterday. As with some others, her hair was a bit tangled in the hair net, and I at first has a bit of difficulty, because the hairnet kept getting caught on the neck hook (?), so it was a bit of a pain to actually get her out of the box itself. Her skin is definitely not as dark as the stock photos were suggesting (relative to her hair). Her stuffing is a bit off, where her right upper chest by her shoulder seems a little understuffed. This is making her head tilt a bit, but I will fix that once I gather the courage to undo her neck strings. Her left eye is slightly smaller than her right, but it is not so extreme that I will return her. This is my first Jess mold, and I can see how some have complained that it does not look "Asian" enough. Emma seems to fit the bill more of an older Caucasian girl. Her meet outfit is alright. I got Emma with making an entirely different character in mind, so for the moment, I do not know what I will do with the outfit. I like the flower clip a lot, and will use it for my modern doll, Se Ah. As for the dress and sandals, I will probably just keep them for now. The blue is a bit bright for my personal taste (and Se Ah's). Emma is still wearing the sandals with the clear elastic since I do not have any shoes for her yet, but they seem a bit flimsy to me. This was a doll I was debating on, and now I am very happy I got her. She is definitely gorgeous, and fits the bill for the character I had in mind. She almost makes me just say, "Forget about Rebecca now, Emma is plenty, and fills in the gap I had of a curly haired, light brown haired doll." I can definitely see younger children having difficulty with her hair over time. I need to get a small spray bottle myself to work out her tangles, but for now, I put it in a loose braid until I have more time this weekend to work on her. Overall, A for the doll, B for the outfit. Edit: And the promised pictures... A couple of Emma close-ups: Emma with Se Ah:

[Will edit with a pic later - my camera's battery decided to die on me.]
Anyway, I just got my outfit today in the mail. I have not tried the tights or shoes yet, but did the dress and ribbon. I have put it on my PM #4 (Se Ah), and as others have stated, it is definitely tight. Once it is on, it's ok, but to actually get it on is the tough part. I can definitely see a child just getting flat out frustrated with getting in on a doll, so I personally would not recommend buying this outfit for a child.
Anyway, otherwise, I love the dress, which is why I bought it. The purple definitely goes well with dark-haired dolls.
At the moment, I would give it a B, due to the fit.
Update 3/8/2012: Ended up selling the dress. Despite how pretty it is, I was just too frustrated with the fit.

I have the robe, but not the slippers (in search of some). I definitely like the design and material. I can easily imagine it possibly being a hand me down of Ricky's, since the pattern seems a bit boy-ish. The material is a comfortable flannel, and I can see it helping keep Molly warm on winter nights. The sash is a soft twisted rope, though I foresee it being too slippery to actually stay in a bow.
