Though #16 was not one of the ones retired during the 2012 outfit change, I ordered one shortly before the meet change (mostly for her meet outfit, IU code, and box). I intended to switch the new doll out with my previous revised-banged doll anyways, but was expecting another revised doll. Instead I got one of the retired #16 dolls. I had never seen a pie-banged #16 before, so I was interested and not unhappy that I was sent this one. Pictures (I thought I had one of her in the box, but I guess I forgot to take one): My doll on left and new doll on right in her meet. Differences in bangs - my doll on right this time and new doll in her new clothes Seeing as how they clearly have old stock of #16 I am kind of surprised they didn't retire her, but I am delighted as she is my favorite doll. I will not be keeping this doll, but it was great to see a pie-banged version.

This is the revised #16. Her hair appears to be slightly darker than my 2008 Samantha. It is also smooth and somewhat silky, and seems to style well if you work with it. My girls is on the left.

can I ask how you all were successful with getting the glasses to stay on her? I got the chocolate glasses for my Jacqueline (47) because I knew she'd look adorable in them (and from all these pictures, she is a cutie with them!) but they wouldn't stay on her face You have to get them in her hair, generally after her hair is done. It may take a couple of tries, it did for me, but finally I got them to lay down. I guess I forgot to do this the first time. My #47's name is Alexis, and she is extremely intelligent and outgoing. Her best friend is my #16 Chelsie, and together they like to get into mischief. Alexis can be a ringleader, and loves spying and figuring out clues. She's my detective girl.

I purchased revised #16 in March 2009, but she was sent back. Her hair was smooth, but her bangs came more static than usual and there's a gap on one side of her bangs in the wig. I did not take her out of the box since I knew I was going to return her, so I do not know if her legs were sturdy or not. She has the longer eyelashes, and as far as I could tell her hair is pretty thick. Here are some pics I took before I sent her back: Here's the gap in her bangs - it might be hard to see in the picture. I checked the other side and my revised #13, and none have it except the wig on this side.

I received Molly for Christmas 2008. She has 'Pleasant Company' on the back of her neck (most of my new dolls have 'American Girl LLC' on their necks). She comes with the same glasses as the silver ones for the today dolls (I compared them and they are exactly the same). I really like her glasses, and they seem sturdy. I do not like the old ones that were bigger. I give Molly an A. She is adorable.

I purchased the revised #13 from AG in November 2008. She is just like the retired one, only she has thinner bangs - even thinner than some pictures show. Her hair was very static, especially her bangs. I almost sent her back because of that, but ultimately decided not to. Other than this, she is a very cute doll. Her face is rounder than the retired #13, and her hair seems a little silkier, but not by much. Her hair is not quite as thick, but there seems to be just as much of it (it's just that the layered parts aren't as thick). Overall grade: B+ (because of the static hair) This girl's name is Bella and she stays at my house for my youngest niece to play with.

I bought the Lilac Glasses in 2006 to go with my #23 doll. The glasses were meant to represent mine (although #23 doesn't look like me so much I found out). As Goo said, they really are a pale purple, but I tend to pick colors similar to that for my own pairs of glasses. The glasses seem slightly off center as it pushes on one of her eyelashes so that it does not close when laying down (I don't remember which side at the moment). I give the wire frame Lilac glasses an A+ I have the rectangular ones but have yet to use them. I like them, but just don't have a doll for them yet.

Her hair is a dream to style. Her hair is so smooth and silky, and it stays in styles and can be brushed down or put up without any fuss.

From the site: My Big Day: Happy birthday to Baby! On her big day, dress her in a pink baby-doll dress and white bloomers edged with ruffles. Strap on her pink hat and Mary Janes, and don't forget her birthday-cake purse. Bear gets a bib, and there is a birthday board book for you. $24 BSOD
The dress: The dress is light pink with darker pink flowers and leaves on it. It seems to be thick enough material for kids to use and love without damaging it by accident (except for stains). It comes with bloomers that has pink ruffles that match the dress. The bloomers are cute, although the dress could be worn with or without them. The hat and purse: The birthday hat is cute, and is made out of fabric. The purse has a plastic feel to it, but it is not fully plastic (it has some fabric to it as well). The top comes off and there's space inside to put things, although the inside is small and the top is hard to get off. It is cute but can be hard for Bitty to keep holding it. I have not used the bib for Bitty Bear, and I can't remember much about the book. Both are really cute, though.
Grade: A for quality A+ for cuteness

From the site: Sunshine Beach Set Baby goes ga-ga at the beach! Her swimsuit, sun hat, and sandals have sweet butterfly appliques, and her hooded cover-up is oh-so-soft. Put on her sunglasses, and she's ready to play in the sand with her pail, shovel, and rake. There's also a swimsuit for Bear, and a seek-and-find board book. $24 BSOH
The swimsuit: The swimsuit is yellow with pink accents, including ruffles and a butterfly bow. The material is, unfortunately, very thin, although it is fine for an adult collector. I have not used the hooded cover-up. The sandals and hat: I personally think the hat makes the outfit. It is adorable and fits Bitty nicely. The sandals are cute and fit nicely, although they feel like they could be ripped if someone were to pull it the wrong way. I have not used the pail, shovel, or rake, although they are all very cute. They are, of course, plastic, just like the real ones. The book is actually very cute, with waves that shine and have a feel/touch sense to them. The sunglasses are cute, but plastic and could easily got lost or broken. Still, it was nice of AG to add them.

I bought mini Ruthie from American Girl for my mom for Christmas. She's really cute and possibly one of the prettiest mini dolls IMO. I was surprised she didn't come wrapped in plastic, but I don't know if they usually do from the warehouse or not. She is adorable! Grade: A

I just received Samantha's Mohair Teddy Bear, and it is as cute as it looks in the pictures! I always wanted this piece, and the "archiving" has urged me to finally get it. The hair is nice and sturdy, and I think it would be fine with kids, although this is for my personal collection. The bear can sit up or lay down, depending on how the legs are positioned. It's a little overpriced, but I'm still glad I got it. Grade: A
I didn't realize it came with the birthday pamphlet, but I am so glad it did as it's the one I wanted most (and her birthday outfit didn't come with anything).

I was surprised to learn that her nutcracker comes unattached (at least mine did), but overall IMO the doll is cuter in person than on the site. Her hair is smooth and nice, and her dress is pretty. She looks really well made, but I haven't yet played with her, and I she will not be used with kids. It's cute and from what I've heard it is historically accurate. Grade: A

I received Samantha in the fall of 2008, and she is my favorite doll. She has silky hair and a full wig cap, and her curls have stayed in well. She is the cutest doll ever and the only one I collect for.

This Josefina is for my mom for Christmas. She was ordered online in October 2008.
She is the most beautiful Josefina doll I have ever seen!
I got mine last Christmas. These are two very different dolls. Mine has dry hair, especially at the ends, but my mom's has very nice hair. (I don't know if you can see, but I tried to show it at the ends)
The faces are a little different too. The new one's eyebrows look a little lower, and her skin is slightly darker.

This sleeper is really cute and easy to take off and put on. It is very cute, though not my favorite. The colors seem to have faded, though I can't say for sure how much since I bought her used. The sleeper is soft and works well for kids wanting to sleep with a baby doll. Grade: A

I bought my ONB from a board member in Fall 2007. She is very cute, with molded hair (much more than the Bitty Babies), a sweet expression, and blond eyelashes. She is developing silver eye in her right eye, but I don't care too much as she is a play doll. She has a softer and more cuddly body than the Bitties and is real easy to snuggle up with. Overall grade: A+ for kids B+ for collectors because of silver eye

I bought this outfit on the sale page, and it is nice for the sale price of $12.00. The pants are a little thin to me, although the shirt is nice. The headband is really cute, but hard to get on just right. The shoes are... not really shoes. They are ok, but I would prefer actual shoes! The outfit has some cute parts but is not to die for. Overall I give it a A-, since it really is for kids and not collectors. For collectors I'd give it a B+.

From the site: Playful Hearts Set For a playdate at the park, dress Baby in this scalloped top and reversible pants and beret—the bright pink side reverses to light pink with embroidered hearts. Her high-top sneakers are simply the sweetest! Set includes a toy swing and a top for Bitty Bear, plus a board book for you. $24 BSOK
I bought this set in summer 2006, when I bought my first Bitty. The set is grogeous for those pink lovers, and is very high quality. The Outfit: The shirt, pants, and beret are all thick material, much nicer than some of the newer outfits. It can surely endure heavy play from kids, and has a reversible side in the pants and beret. The shoes are cute tennies, which match the outfit. The shoelaces can come undone, which could be a problem for little girls, but as an adult collector I haven't had problems with it. Bitty Bear's outfit and toy: The toy is plastic, as expected. It's cute, though I guess it could probably be broken somewhat easily. I have not used this though. There's a cute pink dress for Bitty Bear which I have also not tried on the bear.
Grade: A+

I really like this dress, but for the 18" dolls and not the Bittys. As it's been mentioned, the style definitely suites older girls better, but it is a gorgeous dressy outfit. The tights have been good so far, but I am an adult collector and have not had kids play with this outfit. The shoes are one of the best parts. I have not used the hair band but it is cute. The quality of the actual dress is nice, the material has not ripped and I don't forsee it ripping or getting torn even with child's play. Grade: A+ Mod edited to Remove Dead Photo Link

I purchased this bedding in August 2008 to go with the purple Our Generation bed at Target stores. I like the blue bed, but I prefer purple-and-purle (and the doll it's for prefers purple over blue or anything else). I can tell you that the quality is MUCH nicer than the OG brand, but that is to be expected. It fits this bed very nicely, and it has nice sheets (2) and the pillowcase fits over the flimsy OG decorative pillow. The butterfly pillow is adorable, and much like I've seen pillows in the kids' section at store, and I actually have a pillow similar to the pink one from a couple years ago.
Bedding gets an A+

I received this outfit for Christmas in, I think, 2006. It is gorgeous! The material is a bit thin, but it works just fine for me. The lacy pinafore is adorable. This is definitely a girly outfit, and definitely suites Samantha's personality. I am with sheltiesweetie2007 - the rosebud circlet does not stay when being played with. However, it stays just fine for displays. I am also wondering how easily the circlet could be ripped, but I am not about to try and find out. I am glad this outfit comes with socks, though I would prefer it come with shoes instead of buying it separately. Still, for any Samantha collector, this is a must-have piece. A+

I ordered this outfit online in the after Christmas specials in 2007, though I don't remember if this was a special or the other outfit I got. Anyways, I really like the headband, although I wanted it for the book that comes with it (later I found out some sell the books here but oh well). I really like the shirt, especially on darker haired dolls. I do not like the pants; they are not that great of a color IMO, and I wish the shoes came with socks! But, I let the girls I know play with it and it seems to be holding up very well. Because of the pants and shoes, I give it an A-

I really like this outfit, especially on my #23. I got it at AGP in June 2008. I think it looks especially cute with the Adventure Outfit headband. The shirt is very cute. I just love the jacket, but I'm a fan of jean jackets. The skirt is very cute - something I could see people actually wearing, though I am not sure if girls would or not. The boots are ugly IMO, and are hard to get on. I do not like them at all! Overall an A-, because of the boots.

This outfit is made out of a thin material, much thinner than I expected. I am not sure I like the stretchy material, but it is ok for an adult collector (it's not something I'd let kids play with unless I no longer cared for it). The shoes are cute, I am not a big fan of the style, but they are a deep purple and go with the outfit. The hair things are cute albeit plain. I have not used the eye cover. I give it a B. Update: My niece has since used the eye cover, and it is cute, and has been durable. For as thin as this outfit is, it has held up well to my nieces' play.

This is one of my favorite outfits. The shirt: It is a very nice, white shirt. I personally like the flower and as long as it's hidden or goes with the outfit it can be used for mix-and-match. It is something I would wear, and the girls I know (and knew then) would wear as well. The Jeans Jeans are classic, always in style. I like the design on them for the meet outfit, although it does restrict mix-and-match possibilities. I think the Black Logo Tee from 2004 also goes nicely with the jeans. The jacket I like the jacket - I love the red colors mixed with the gorgeous blue color. I think I had something like this when I was young, including the feel of the jacket. I personally prefer the outfit together with the jacket, and it is a nice piece to the set. The Socks These are adorable!! I was not expecting socks with my doll, and was delighted to find them. So cute. My best friend wears socks like that all the time, and did especially when she was in AG's target range. But I do not know if kids still do. The Shoes I love the shoes! I love that color of blue. I have not tried to pair them with any other outfit, so I am not sure how that would work, but they fit very nicely and go with this outfit.
A+

I purchased this shirt from the AG website in the fall of 2006. I purchased two, since they were only $6 each, and have since used it on my dolls. I think it's a nice, almost plain black shirt, and can be used very nicely for mix-and-match. The quality is superb. I only wish they other colors other than black, but I knew what I was getting so I give it an A+.

Can you put her hair in any other style besides a braid like a ponytail? Of course. Her hair is so long, she's really one of the most versatile dolls in terms of hair styles. The part is permanent, but it's easy to work around. Oh yes, definitely. However, some Josefina's have a dry hair problem, which mine has slighty (but I want to keep her braid in, as I think she looks adorable with it). Her hair has lots of play value, as long as it doesn't get too tangled up (as with any long haired doll).

I received Elizabeth as a surprise gift for my birthday in May 2008! Her hair is somewhat silky and seems really thick, although I haven't taken it out of its original pony tail.
Her dress is a bit thin, which is disappointing but something I'll get over. It's not the greatest shade of pink IMO, but it looks okay on her. Mine is staying as Felicity's friend because even though I read the books, I was never set on a brunette Elizabeth (in fact, didn't even remember it until it was brought up here, lol)
She is pictured with Josefina because all the pictures of her by herself are really blurry, for some reason I have yet to discover.
