I get to be the first to review this awesome doll! As soon as I saw the pictures of the Street Chic dolls-- #89, #90, and #91--I knew #90 would have to come live with me. I've rarely bought a doll so quickly upon release. And she did not disappoint! I could not be happier with her. I think she is basically blue perfection. The rich ultramarine blue of her hair makes me incredibly happy (blue is one of my happy colors!) and as I said elsewhere, she is the perfect combination of fairytale and punk. There have been some concerns voiced that she might be difficult to dress due to the bright color of her hair but I've actually found the opposite to be true: I find her hair a great color to coordinate with other saturated tones and have had no trouble finding her outfits within my AG wardrobe. She's actually quite versatile, being equally happy to dress up or down, go girly or a little more edgy. Mine, whom I've named Stella, definitely prefers the edgier look to balance out her sweet face, but I can imagine that many collectors will have a great time dressing her in more fairytale-esque styles and pastel colors. Here she is in her arrival outfit. I have to say that the blue theme is part of what sold me on her. I love her funky Meet dress with the magenta side lacing and hoodie. And the boots are awesome and coordinate well with many other modern outfits. (She's shown here with the socks and necklace that come with the Street Chic accessories set). First things first: her eyes. It took me a few days to realize that her eyes were not the light blue I was expecting. AG calls them "light blue" in her description online (they called Mia's hazel eyes "green" so I always take their description with a grain of salt), but they are definitely not the light blue of #22 or #39, nor are they the dark blue of #27 or Kit. I think they are closer to Marie-Grace's aqua blue. Is this a new light blue? Inquiring minds want to know. Eye color is notoriously difficult to capture in photographs due to context and subtle variations in lighting, etc., but here are a few attempts at eye comparisons (#90 is always on the right): PM Kirsten and #90 #39 and #90 More recent #22 and #90 #27 and #90 Marie-Grace and #90 Next, as to her hair: It is a rich blue color with lighter blue highlights and arrived in a cute side French braid that was already quite messy so I immediately set it free. The braid gave it some loose waves that have already mostly relaxed themselves. There are short pieces that frame her face on each side. I've noticed a bit of variation in the wigs of the #90s I've seen pictures of. Mine has the lighter blue highlights sewn beneath the darker blue top layer but some #90s appear to have a more streaked top layer. I think this is cool because if one wanted twins (not that any of us are that crazy, haha) they wouldn't be exactly the same. Hmmm...... I feel Stella's wig is an average thickness--not nearly as thin as my Kira's but not as thick as the Julie dolls I've had in the past. I'm fine with the amount of hair she has. The only fault I have to find with it is the way AG has constructed the wig. I've seen similar issues with other recent dolls (including Kira and #68). The top layer is quite thin and there are places where you can see the wig cap on the sides if you pull the hair aside a certain way. It doesn't really bother me but I think AG could improve their wig construction, especially as there are so many far superior competitors available these days on Etsy. Here's a small sampling of Stella in a few of my favorite modern outfits (I don't plan to dress her in anything historical as it doesn't suit her personal aesthetic). So far I feel she looks best in rich, saturated, coordinating or complimentary tones such as purple, orange, aqua, and yellow, and high contrast neutrals like white and black. I believe that makes her a spring but I'm not sure? She also loves anything a little edgy or sparkly. Any variation in the color of her hair is due to my basic camera and my total lack of photography skills. Sometimes my camera really struggles to capture the true blue of her hair. I'm so glad AG made this girl! She's bringing me a lot of springtime joy. Grade: A+

Considering how absolutely lovely this doll is, I'm very surprised that I will be the first to review her! I have to say that she is even more beautiful in person than in the stock photos or my pictures. I decided I needed #82 when I realized that she resembles Lina Romay, a Mexican actress who sang with Xavier Cugat's orchestra in the 1940s and who played one of my favorite characters in one of my favorite Andy Hardy films. :) I've named her Isobel after that character. She does look similar in a lot of ways to Josefina, and if you'd like to see a couple of comparison photos of her with Josefina and also with #28, they are at the end of my review. So, to begin. I no longer have Josefina myself, so I'm excited to have a doll that can wear Josefina's fashions if I want her to. Here she is in one of my favorites (I can't remember the name of the outfit at the moment): She is just so gorgeous!
[/a] This doll has one of the prettiest medium skin tones I've ever seen on an AG doll. It has a rosy glow and reminds me a bit of terra cotta. Here she is without the jacket so you can see her lovely complexion: [/a] I wanted to try Isobel out in something a bit more like what the character Isobel Gonzales would have worn if she were living now instead of in the 1940's. I think she's a sparkly sort of person who would look good in crisp, classic lines. I'll have to go to Etsy and see what I can find for her. [/a] Now, about her hair. It is SO beautiful! I would call the wig medium--not as thick as the long natural wigs on CYO dolls, and not nearly as thin as Rebecca's, say. Since it has so much curl that's actually a good thing. Better still, it's not dry and staticky as Caroline's is--it's very silky and soft, similar to the fiber used for #66's wig. I've been seeing some comments on Instagram that her hair is hard to take care of. As with all curly-haired dolls, this is an individual thing. Personally, I go nuts when I try to keep a wig looking like it did fresh from the factory. Let's face it, if you don't finger-curl it every five seconds, it's going to develop fly-always and frizz. Moreover, there are loose hairs that need to be combed out. But because it is a much looser curl than on Caroline--I'd compare it more to #33 or Rebecca--keeping it the way it is from the factory is entirely a matter of preference. I'm going to brush it out and style it as I like. So for the moment I'm enjoying the perfect curls--it won't stay that way much longer. [/a] I also want to say that it seems even blacker and shinier than Josefina's wig. And it is longer! I think it is the longest wig I've seen from AG ever even including Kanani, but I can't be sure. It would be great to see a comparison of #82's wig with Addy's, Kanani's, and Josefina's, just to see how the length compares. [/a] I can't wait to play with it and braid it and brush it so it fluffs up a bit! Now, as to the comparisons, here is #82 with my husband's Josefina and my #28, Zara: [/a] #82 and Josefina. You can see how the Josefina face mold has evolved over the years--this is a 2006 Josefina and her eye sockets are bigger and less almond shaped. [/a] And #82 and #28. I love the difference in their skin tones even though they're both mediums. [/a] I can tell I'm going to have so much fun with this beautiful girl. I can't wait to find fashions for her. Thanks for reading!

I'll confess it took me about fifteen months from the time of her release to really appreciate Luciana. I loved what AG did with her collection but I felt uninterested in the doll herself. I thought she was too similar to #66 and since I've already had #66 and didn't keep her I was sure I would never want Luciana. It wasn't until I saw her in person in the store last November that I began to come around, and not until I finally got a Luciana of my own this month that I fell in love. That being said, I now LOVE Luciana! I think she is one of the prettiest, sweetest, perkiest dolls AG has ever made. And I say that even though she has the inferior body cloth and new-style eyes. I think she is unique even among similar dolls like Josefina, Marisol, #66 and #28. And I personally think she is the prettiest of all five Latina AG dolls. One thing that tripped me up at first were her eyebrows. I was so put off by Lea's eyebrows back in 2016 that I was afraid Luciana's eyebrows would be the same. As it turns out they're not at all the same. All the Lucianas I saw in the store looked sweet and perky regardless of their eyebrow placement. Lea's eyebrows have an extra angle that Luciana's do not have. Luciana's just look nicely arched, not angry or mean. My Luciana has a left eyebrow that's just slightly higher than her right and it gives her the cutest expression--like she's seen something really interesting. I think her coloring is exquisite. Unlike Josefina and #66, Luciana's hair is chocolate brown, not black-brown, so she has less of a hard contrast between her hair and skin tone; yet unlike Marisol or #28, she does have enough contrast to really bring out the different browns of her hair and vinyl. Her hair is a truly luscious brown--I love it. I also love the length. It's a bit shorter than #66's but longer than #28's, meaning that it's long enough to play with and style but short enough to give her a distinctive look. It has the cutest flip at the bottom as well--I love flips. I adore her messy side swept bangs, too. They're quite a bit longer and more lively than Maryellen's but they can be tamed. Mine has the original wig style with the sewn-under bangs. Though it's not a super thick wig, it's quite thick enough. Honestly, I would be happy without the purple hairstreak, but it doesn't bother me. You can easily hide it by brushing her hair a certain way if you don't want to see it or if you want to dress her in something historical. Altogether, her wig is an exquisite color and has a wonderful life of its own. I'm going to say something heretical: I actually prefer the new-style eyes on Luciana. I've seen several Lucianas on this board who have received eye swaps and they're gorgeous. However, I feel the new-style eyes give Luciana a perkiness that I think really suits her character. All the Lucianas I saw in the store had the cutest expression. Mine looks interested and alert and eager, not at all glazed-over or wall-eyed as sometimes happens with the Josefina face mold. The Meet outfit is the one part of the doll I always did like from the very beginning, and I love it even more in person. It's bright and eye-catching, even though the dress material is just a basic knit. I appreciate that AG gave her real sleeves. And I love that she comes with two necklaces and a little red waist pouch. The pouch really opens and closes with velcro so Luciana could slip some small item inside that she needs to keep with her. This is a nice touch. And her silver holographic boots actually lace up! They do not even have velcro in the back like most of the other boots AG has made in recent years. Woo hoo! This Meet outfit is one of my very favorites of all the GOTYs. My Luciana feels more substantial and significant somehow than Blaire. Maybe this is because she's literally fatter. Despite the thin body cloth my Luciana is well-stuffed and practically plump! Luciana has a presence about her, a real-ness that Blaire doesn't have. I can't get over how pretty she is. And judging from the outfits I've tried on her so far, she seems quite versatile. I haven't tried her in anything historical yet but she looked great in almost every modern outfit I put on her. She especially loves purple, lavender, and sage green. Considering everything, Luciana feels like a real doll, which is the highest praise I can give. Grade: solid A (would be A+ except for the thinner body cloth)

How do you feel about the size of the watch face, islandgirls? I thought this looked very cute online, but it's not shown on a doll and one reviewer thought the face was distinctly too big. From your picture I feel it could go either way. Maybe it's a big, chunky face and you like the look? Thanks for reviewing! Yes, it is largish, but it feels substantial in a stylish way to me. It never occurred to me that it was too big to be realistic. Emma loves her watch! :)

Dolls will be ready for weekend jaunts in the city in this smart and stylish set. Includes:
A knit capelet in a coral houndstooth pattern A cute tweed skirt with an asymmetrical ruffle Shiny flat shoes with fabric bows on the heels A tee with a fun city sceneI liked this outfit from the time it was introduced. I love the blend of warm colors, the style, the capelet, the material used for the skirt, everything. It looks great on every doll I've tried it on. The capelet: A slightly cheap feeling knit in a very pretty pattern (I love the word houndstooth!). It fits snugly and well and I love that the button really buttons. Grade: B The skirt: I love the heavy material--it is a tweed shot with gold. And I like asymmetry in fashion. However, I do wish it buttoned or even velcroed in the back, though. As it is, the elastic is very tight and it takes patience to get it on. Also, the skirt bunches--is this really a thing? Pleats would have been better. Grade: B The shoes: Okay, yes, it's yet another pair of ballet flats. But they're gold! And they have tiny bows on the heels! Love. Grade: A+ The tee: A very pretty color and a cute decal, but a slightly thin material. I like the 3/4 length sleeves; I'm always pushing my own sleeves up so I can imagine my dolls appreciate the shorter length as well. Grade: B Overall grade: B+ Here it is modeled by my lovely Helen:

I bought this completely on impulse at AG Store Seattle just because it was so cute in the display case. And I'm so glad I did! This is an adorable set, and every doll family needs a cooler for their doll picnics, right? :) The set includes: 1 cooler, 2 drinks, 2 sandwiches, 1 container of raspberries, and 2 clumps of ice. All the pieces are plastic, but all are heavy, detailed, and very nicely made. The cooler in particular is precious. I love the teal handle with its little grips and the sturdy, slightly grainy material the cooler it is made out of. The hinges feel quite strong. The drinks can rest in the two cup holders on top of the cooler when it's closed, and there's an indentation for a snack there as well. The sunshine decoration on the front of the cooler is cute as well. Everything but the drinks fits right inside when the cooler is closed. The food looks delicious--especially those paper wrapped sandwiches! Apparently they come from an AG deli because the paper is sprinkled with tiny printed subway sandwiches and the AG. The plastic container of raspberries really opens! and the berries can pop in and out. Raspberries are one of my favorite treats, so I ask you. I've decided the drinks are orange juliuses, or maybe mango smoothies. Yum! All told, I think this cooler is even nicer than the earlier Pleasant Company version (which I also have). The PC one is cute but is made of glossy plastic with no handle, whereas this one has a handle and is made from a much nicer material. The food is pretty much equally cute in both sets. Anyway, pictures!

I don't have Z, but I did buy her outfit on Ebay because who would not want that shirt? I keep seeing that her shoes are the same as the TM shoes, but the TM shoes are plastic and nearly white, while Z's shoes are are a medium dark silver gray and not plastic so they fit better and are smaller and look better, in my opinion. You can see them quite clearly on Laura Isabella's post. The shoes are exactly the same as the sparkly silver Truly Me shoes that came out a year or so before Z arrived. They are not the same as the white plastic shoes the Truly Me dolls now come in. :)

So cute! I've never had a watch for my dolls before. I love that it's analog. It's perfect for a city girl like Z who will need to be catching buses and light rail and.... The band is transparent blue glittery flexible rubber or vinyl (not sure which). The buckle and face are plastic of course, metallic gold in color. The band really buckles, which might be a bit difficult to get on for younger girls, and I don't think the plastic can take much stress. I'll be careful with it. Grade: A

I picked these up in the store because they were so cute on the display dolls. I love the star print. The jeans material is stretchy, fairly thick, and a nice indigo blue. The stitching is a bit messy, and there are only two belt loops and only in front. There are no real pockets, because they're jeggings, girls. The only problem with these is that they tend to develop plumber butt when the doll sits down. Grade: B+

I LOVE this top! It is my favorite piece from this years Mix & Match collection. So pretty. The fabric is crisp, with a gorgeous silver thread running through the pale aqua weave. The ruffle goes all the way around in back. I think it will pair well with lots of different skirts and pants. Grade: A+

It took me three tries to find a #68 with a tolerable wig. Three out of the four dolls I've seen in person had wigs that were defectively thin--bald spots and no coverage of the wig cap in back or on the sides with almost randomly placed shorthairs. The thinness can make the wig appear even wispy. I'm glad I was finally able to find one with an acceptable wig because this is a really pretty doll. Hair: Very thin, very fine, lies flat, very glossy, snags easily, extremely layered with choppy layers around the face. I would say the cut is even more layered than #27, as a comparison. The color is a gorgeous acorn brown with golden highlights. I love the style but I haven't tried to do much with it yet and imagine that pigtail braids will be impossible due to the layers. B Face: Gorgeous, with soft coloring and bright peachy lips. Mine has the new, downward-looking eyes--they're straight!--a chubby face, and slightly "worried" eyebrows. Very cute. A Body: The new thin body cloth with real panties. I gave mine a body swap right away. C Vinyl: New, not squishy. It has a pearly sheen that almost makes me think of wax and old Victorian dolls. It is so pretty that when I did the body swap I kept the limbs she came with. A This doll has such a sweet, modern, little-girlish appearance. Mine is a little bit shy. Style-wise I think she likes pretty, girly ensembles. I'm looking forward to trying her in different outfits! She has a very feminine appearance, and I like the contrast between her hair/eyes and skin color. Overall grade: B. If the quality was better, I'd give her an A.

I am more excited about Z than I have been about any doll in a long time. My purchase was very spontaneous and I'm completely smitten. I can't believe it took me so long to get her (I have her pending retirement to thank for thinking of her at all). There is just something really special about this doll. She feels so... dollish, for lack of a better word. She's substantial with an absolutely precious expression. I adore her. I will say that I gave her a body swap right away, so I won't bother with any comments about the horrid permapanty body she came with. My Z has a perfect face with straight eyes (hers were the straightest of the five left in the store), soft eyelashes, nice soft coloring, and of course her cute little beauty mark. Her hair is lovely--silky and long. It is adequately thick; I'd prefer it a little thicker, but it covers the wig cap and is really fun to play with. The hair itself is a black-brown (definitely reads as black not dark brown as her description says) with reddish highlights. The cut is slightly layered. The fiber is fairly substantial, not the super fine or soft fiber AG uses for some dolls. Mine came with some crimps and bends caused by the pigtails she arrives wearing. I'll probably try some steam to fix that. I love her meet outfit! Yes, I already have the shoes (LOVE them) and the leggings are basically what has already been offered previously in the Mix & Match collection. But the tee is adorable and a lovely violet blue color and the skirt is nice and sturdy. I wish it had real pockets and a snap closure, but you can't have everything. Altogether the ensemble has a fun, artsy, street-smart vibe that I'm all over. :) Overall, Z has a cheerful, sunny, charming demeanor. She is a beautiful doll. Photos do not do her justice. Get her while she's still available! Grade: A+ (not considering the permapanties)

Luciana is mission-ready in this outfit she wears to learn and explore at Space Camp. Includes:
A multicolored space-dyed tank top A varsity jacket with patches she proudly wears at camp and at home Denim shorts with a decal heart Bright cosmic-print sneakersI don't have Luciana but I've liked this outfit since it came out and I was excited to be able to pick it up at the Seattle store. I love the style--it's so "normal" looking. It reminds me of things I used to wear when I was little. Are turtlenecks coming back into style? All the pieces are nicely made. Tank: I love the color and style. I strongly dislike the fact that the chest fabric doesn't quite reach to the arm sockets. B Jacket: The best piece in the ensemble, in my opinion. The shiny teal fabric is gorgeous (photos don't do it justice) and I love the knit edging and the zipper. The teal is a bit more green than my pictures show. The space theme patches are cute, though I would have preferred it to be left plain since I'm not into the character. A Shorts: Very cute, normal shorts. I wish they didn't sew the cuff at the hem (I'd like to be able to roll them up myself) and I wish they had pockets in the back and belt loops. I don't mind the decal. A Sneakers: Adorable! I LOVE the color and pattern. I wish they gave us real ties, though. We're not babies. A Overall grade: A

Z can stay dry on Seattle’s rainy days with this set, featuring:
A long-sleeved tee with a graphic at one shoulder A green vest with fleece lining and embroidered logo Printed jersey leggings Coral rain bootsThis is an adorable outfit and quite necessary for anyone who lives in the Pacific Northwest. I love that each piece is a different color and yet they all tie together subtly by virtue of the print on the leggings. The pastel colors are really nice and I absolutely love that they didn't use any pink. Tee: The long-sleeved tee is made from a substantial pale blue rib knit material. I like that the edges are all finished properly. There is a star decal on the right arm. A Vest: The vest is my favorite piece. I love the color, the material, the fleece lining, everything. It is something I would wear myself, and so warm and cozy. A zipper would have sent this piece off the top of the grading scale. A + Leggings: I like the cool rain drop print and how it ties in with the other pieces. The material is a little thin but they go on nicely. A Boots: The boots are cute and authentic and I love the peachy orange color. They are difficult to get on--they have a nice fiber lining, but the rubber is flexible which makes it hard to push them over the doll's feet. Mine had some light discoloration on the rubber. B I like that the outfit is not too girly and has good mix and match value. Overall Grade: A

I agree the shorts are hard to get on. But when they're on, wow! Very cute outfit. I don't have Nanea, so Z is modeling it today. I love the fabric, the style, and the flower clip. I like the color of the sandals, but the design and execution leave a bit to be desired for me. Grade: A

I was surprised by how few reviews there are of this precious doll considering that she's one of the original twenty GOTs. I think she deserves some love! I found a 1996 version of #13 for a ridiculously low price on Ebay as she was being sold by a thrift store. When she arrived I knew she was something special--she has all the earmarks of an original 1995 GOT, despite the second edition outfit. Apparently she had mostly just been stored--she was pretty dusty, her limbs were floppy, and her hair was quite dry. She also has a chewed thumb and finger and a few stains on the ends of her fingers. I had fun restringing her, cleaning her vinyl and cloth body, carefully washing her face, and washing and conditioning her hair. When I put her all back together I just fell in love. I can't believe she's (at least) twenty two years old! She looks brand new. I named her Kate, because she looks so much like Kate Maberly, the actress who played Mary in the 1993 version of The Secret Garden. Kate is simply beautiful. She has soft, peachy vinyl and rosy coloring. Her eyelashes are long, soft and brown. She has that adorably chubby Pre-Mattel body and limbs. And her hair is stunning--so thick and shiny, with that amazing little flip at the ends. She does not have short hairs to cover her wig cap, however. Kate looks as great in modern outfits as in historical ones and she's lovely in many colors. This is truly a versatile doll. Grade? A+ for a versatile, sweet, charming doll. :) But what you really want is pictures, right?
I have more pictures, but Flikr isn't working properly so I'll add them when I can.

My husband gave me this outfit as a present! It is just the cutest thing. I love the bright colors! The outfit is comprised of five pieces with mix & match potential: stretchy print leggings, stretchy print top, wrap top, tennis shoes, and headband. The leggings and top share the same bright coral and aqua print while the wrap top is a coordinating lavender with contrast stitching. The shoes are a matching coral and aqua, and the headband is coral as well. I love that the outfit is colorful and isn't too matchy-matchy--the wrap top relieves the color scheme. The leggings are a nice soft knit fabric and go on easily. They are capri length. The top is made of the same material but has an elastic waistband that says "cheer" around it. It is extremely difficult to get on because there is no velcro closure--you have to pull the top on over the doll's head. I managed it, but I was afraid the stitching would rip (it didn't). I like the racer back but I wish they had given it velcro--I'm afraid I'll stretch out the fabric over time. My favorite part of the outfit is the lavender wrap top because I wear things just like it. It is a nice lightweight knit fabric and has great mix & match potential--in fact, it matches the Seashore Stripe Skirt from the Mix & Match collection perfectly! The shoes are very cute, but I wish AG would give us real laces instead of the ubiquitous elastic for dummies. The headband is simple--just stretchy elastic, basic but nice. Overall, this is an adorable ensemble, but the difficulty of getting the top on will reduce its play value for young children (and beware of trying to get this onto a Pleasant Company doll!).
Grade: B+ (because of the difficulty of getting the top on)

This skirt is part of this year's mix & match collection. My husband bought it for me as a surprise and I love it! The skirt is made of t-shirt material, which makes it extremely soft with a beautiful drape. The stripes are printed onto the fabric on a diagonal. The waistband is elastic. The skirt is constructed of two pieces of material overlapped on the sides where the pleats are (sort of like an apron in reverse, if that makes sense). This gives the skirt a breezy, flow-y line. My only complaint is that the elastic waistband is tight and therefore difficult to pull up even on a newer doll. It goes on, just takes patience. Otherwise, I love this piece. Here it is on my CYO doll, Julia Marie, paired with another of the mix & match separates. The skirt has a bohemian flair which is perfect for Julia:
Grade: A- (because of the tight waistband)

I have admired this girl since she appeared in the 2009 catalogs, and was sorry she was discontinued. Imagine my joy when I discovered her NIB on Ebay for $85! I'm so glad I bought her. She is so under-appreciated, and stock photos do not do this beautiful doll justice. When she arrived, she told me her name is Rebecca Grania and that she is a dancer. One of the things I love best about Grania is how versatile she is. She can dress up in Addy outfits as well as playing up-to-the-minute modern. Here she is as she arrived new in box: She has a lovely, warm brown skin tone (similar to Cécile's), and warm brown eyes. I love her wig! It is soft, shiny, thick, and very layered, with a pretty fringe. Her hair is dark, but definitely more "brown" than "black brown." Here she is next to Amy, my #1 doll, for comparison: You can see that Amy's hair (on the left) is definitely darker and more kinky, though both wigs are textured: Here are a few more pictures of her in different outfits: Isabelle's Meet outfit: As a dancer: She is definitely distinct from #1 and Addy: I give this doll an A+++!
