I have mixed opinions on this dress. For starters, it's very, very short. The skirt is just a thin lining with two layers of tule that hits above the doll's knee. The bodice is a v-neck with sleeves, covered with red, gold and sliver sequins. The bow on the bodice is oddly placed on the dress..it would probably look better without.
The shoes are cute, however, do not fit with stockings underneath (which, btw, should have been included with this set!). The headband is your typical AG plastic headband, coated with sliver glitter. The shrug is faux fur.
All in all, a pretty forgettable holiday dress offering. AG has done better in the past.

As someone who loves hockey and AG, as soon as I saw this set, I knew I had to have it. I played for a team also name the Stars for several years (except our colours were red/black/white) and I would have loved this when I was younger. Which is why I had to have it. No matter the cost or the quality of said set.
The set comes with sixteen pieces:
1 Helmet 1 Jersey (ahem, sweater) 1 pair of "Breezers," (hockey pants? I have never heard of this term. Even the French below translates them as "hockey pants) 1 pair of Gloves 1 pair of Socks 1 pair of Skates 1 pair of Shoulder Pads 1 pair of Shin Pads 1 pair of Elbow Pads 1 Hockey Stick 1 Puck 1 pair of Skate Guards 1 Roll of Tape 1 Hockey Net 1 Hockey Bag
As a hockey player, this set reminds me of the "starter kits," you purchase when you first start playing hockey. When you don't want to shell out big bucks for equipment, but you want everything you need as a beginner.
I'm not going to put a "realistic," spin on this review because it's hockey equipment for dolls. It's not supposed to be ~realistic because, if it was, the doll would look like a marshmallow. However, there is a lot of plastic to this set. And if you don't like the plastic, then this set is not for you.
I'll go over each piece individually.
1 Helmet - Completely plastic. The helmet and cage are plastic. The cage could have definitely been metal. There's no "dimension," to this piece (stickers could have been added, some buttons, etc) There's no "padding," on the helmet as the Maplelea one does. However, in AG's defence, that helmet is a bit too much and it makes the doll's head look unreasonable large. I don't mind this piece. I might alter this a big.
1 Jersey (ahem, sweater) - MUCH better than Mia's hockey sweater from 11 years ago. Fits the shoulder pads and elbow pads well. They could have added a number on the back and sides if they wanted to?
1 pair of "Breezers," - Made out of nylon which is what actual hockey pants are made of. I have no complaints.
1 pair of Gloves - They remind me of oven mitts, but AG was kind of handicapped with these, since AG hands are awkward for gloves and mittens. They have two little plastic bands to hold the stick, which was very cute.
1 pair of Socks - Awesome! They are knitted cotton and slide easily over the shin pads.
1 pair of Skates - Again, similar problem with the helmet. No dimension to the skates at all. I love the blade of the skates, but the boot is literally a boot with a blade attached.
1 pair of Shoulder Pads - Awesome! Not super bulky like real hockey players shoulder pads tend to be
1 pair of Shin Pads - These are simply plastic "moulds," that snap onto the shins of the doll. No straps, nothing else. It doesn't matter since the socks cover them anyway. But again, dimension could have been added in the form of straps or other decoration.
1 pair of Elbow Pads - Similar to elbow pads with rollerblade sets. Hockey elbow pads are more of a "L" shape since you are required to move your arms to shoot, skate, etc. But obviously AG arms do not bend, nor do they have posable joints, so it doesn't matter. You also cannot see them since the sweater covers them up.
1 Hockey Stick - Plastic. They could have gone with fiberglass or wood. I don't have Mia's stick to compare. But they seem very similar. The scale is correct.
1 Puck - Plastic and out of scale. Pucks are rubber and the skate guards are rubber, so why didn't they make this rubber as well??
1 pair of Skate Guards - Awesome! I have only seen plastic or cloth guards. Kind of weird to see rubber ones? They also have some glitter on them.
1 Roll of Tape - I haven't unrolled this but it looks and feels like actual hockey tape.
1 Hockey Net - This is the biggest disappointment. The scale is completely off. The doll is taller than the net (the net comes to her elbows). What was the point of this?? I would have preferred no net to this.
1 Hockey Bag - A nylon bag. Nothing wrong with it. As I mentioned before, this bag reminds me of what would be included in a starter set for a beginner player. I haven't tried to fit everything in, but I'm sure (and hope) everything fits.
Overall, I'm happy with this set. It's not perfect, but I'm glad to see AG create a hockey set instead of rehashing the same five sports over and over again. If this goes on sale, I can see myself purchasing a few more so I can have a "team."

Here's a picture of the store exclusive t-shirt from a specialty boutique. It's identical to the U.S. ones, except it has a maple leaf in the middle with "Canada," written on the side.
Price was $12.

DSC_0121 by clara-oѕwald, on Flickr DSC_0125 by clara-oѕwald, on Flickr DSC_0118 by clara-oѕwald, on Flickr This doll was purchased for the intention of customisation, but I thought I'd review her before she isn't her canon self. I give her an A. I think she's perfect for a young girl as a first doll. Hair easy to maintain, long enough to put in different hairstyles etc. However, it is rather silky and somewhat on the thin side. The top of her hair towards the back is extremely thin. My doll brush snags the wig cap every time I run it through her hair. Another thing I noticed is that the layers on the right side of her hair are not the same length as the left. Again this might be my particular doll who has this problem. I plan on cutting her hair so it does not bother me, but if this was a doll I wasn't customising, I wouldn't be happy. DSC_0141 by clara-oѕwald, on Flickr DSC_0143 by clara-oѕwald, on Flickr Her gorgeous big brown eyes make up for that though. They are the standard brown colour of AG eyes, but they look amazing on her. DSC_0132 by clara-oѕwald, on Flickr This also may/may not be of significance to this doll in particular, but I found it difficult to pick her out. A few of them had weird eye and hair issues. So if you're looking to purchase this doll, I suggest to do it in person.

Isabelle is a very pretty doll. She'd be perfect for a first doll for a young girl as her hair is very easy to take care of. It's nice and thick. The extensions were a good idea in theory, but don't really work out well. They're a different shade of blond than her hair and are easily hidden/are difficult to see when her hair is not styled accordingly. The meet outfit is adorable and a change from the dresses/skirts from the other LE girls. Unfortunately, my doll had defects and was returned. Despite that, I give her a B+ for lack of originality and the hairpiece issue. DSC_1979 by clara-oѕwald, on Flickr

I give this outfit a C. My doll came with this outfit and I'm pretty sure I would never own it otherwise. The tunic is unlike anything I've seen before..I have no idea what AG was attempting to recreate here..The print on the tunic are stickers that can be picked off if you're patient enough to do so. The pants are this weird purple colour that makes it hard to match it with other tops (would it kill AG to create clothing pieces that mix and match?!)They are also very hard to get on an off due to a no velco opening. Like it has been mentioned, they are stitched in and cannot be rolled down. The flats are periwinkle and look good with other outfits. I don't think they match with this outfit exactly. Everything is a weird shade of purple and clashes horrible with my #37's colouring. Definitely not an outfit my dolls would wear and definitely not something I see any young girl wear.

Kit arrived here on August 1st and I couldn't be happier with her. Since there is a lot of photos and reviews already, I'm going to keep this short. I love Kit's short blond hair, blue eyes and freckles. Her meet outfit is one of my favourites of the historicals and I actually cannot take it off Kit because I love it on her too much. It's very timeless and I wouldn't mind wearing one myself. The only gripe I really have is about her barrette. It's as cheap-feeling as Rebecca's. (okay, maybe a bit better than her's but still, it could be improved.) I give her an A+ and highly recommend her to anyone looking to add her to their collection

I ordered and received Rebecca April 2011 and I'm so glad to have made that decision. She is the first doll I own to have the Josefina mold and I can't say she will be the last. I must have lucked out and gotten a Rebecca with an amazing wig. Her wig is thick and beautiful and doesn't take much to care for. The clip in hair, on the other hand, sucks. It doesn't stay in at all. Her meet outfit is great, I suppose. My dolls rarely wear theirs. Samantha, Ruthie and Rebecca sport it sometimes. It's a lot thinner than I thought it would be. Overall, I think Rebecca is a great addition to the historical line and a great addition to my little doll family. I give her an A+ and highly recommend her.

my set of Nicki photos on flickr There's about 39 photos of her there of mine. I rarely photograph her anymore since she's in really sad shape and I ought to send her to the doll hospital one of these days for a head replacement. I don't have the MyAG western outfit, sorry!

I like this outfit on every doll BUT Ruthie. I wish they would have introduced the yellow dress she frequently wore in Kit's books. :/ I have nothing against the dress though, as both my historical and modern dolls wear it. It is a very light summery dress that would probably look well with Kit's cardi from her meet outfit. The best part of her outfit would definitely be the shoes. My Ruthie wears them with every outfit, historical or modern. She stands perfectly in them and I have no complaints. Mod edit to remove broken image

I got the snowsuit for $20 for cyber monday as well. To be honest, I wasn't impressed with it in the beginning. For almost a year, I kept it in the box in my closet because I just didn't like it. It was only after getting it out again and changing Caroline into it that I started to like it a bit more. The most disappointing part of this outfit is I think the sweater; is just too thin and not really a sweater at all. It can be mixed and matched with jeans, or as I like to use it with Mia's meet skirt. The snowpants and boots are really good quality and remind me of the ones I used to wear in the snow. Here are some photos (you can see in this photo that the sleeves of the sweater are short) (paired up with Mia's meet skirt) (paired up with a denim skirt.)

I ended up purchasing this hoodie on cyber monday 2009 for I believe $6 or something around there. The hoodie is hard to get on without messing up the doll's hair, but otherwise, I don't see a problem with it. I think the fit is fine and is true to how a "people" sized hoodie would fit like. On Caroline. I usually pair it with Mia's meet skirt. They look pretty well together.

I've had (Ella) Mia for about three months and she's become one of my favourite dolls. I would give her an A. Her hair is beautiful and the thickest of all my other dolls and it's such a lovely colour. She's missing the "plus" because as lovely and thick her hair is, if the front is not put up with clips or a hairtie, it goes directly in her face. I hate that she can't really have her hair down without it going into her eyes. As for the meet outfit, it looks better on other dolls. It just doesn't go with her colouring at all. The pink sweater makes Ella's (my Mia)face washed out. The skirt is a pain to get on since it has no Velcro. The shoes are cute, but I wish they were a different shade of blue. Overall, I give her an A. She's the only LE doll I've wanted from the moment she was released.

After two weeks of waiting patiently for Lanie, she has finally arrived and I'm so glad I ordered her. I must have gotten a "good" Lanie because my doll has a good wig that is easy to maintain with a doll hairbrush and a spritz of water. I've been playing with it for about three hours and it has been very easy to take care of (for now). Also, it is very thick, much thicker than my other curly haired dolls. I have no complaints about her being blond; she's my very first blond AG and I couldn't be more happier with her. Her meet outfit is adorable and very true to what girls are wearing right now, I suppose. I love her shoes as well. Overall I give her an A+ and would highly recommend her to anyone. Editing to add a photo. I've had Caroline (Lanie) for about six months and still love her to pieces. Her hair has held up well and looks exactly like it did when I received her. I'm very impressed.

I found these at a FM with the "Grin Pin" chart. I'm not a pin collector, so I will probably sell these soon. I give them an B+ because the metal part is starting to rust. Otherwise they are very cute (My sister pins them everywhere!)

Nicki - A+ I love my Nicki doll. I have no regrets of buying her. I got mine on May 31 2007 and she was my first "new" doll (Samantha was first, but I found her at a FM) Nicki's hair is a very light brown color and is a..pain in the neck to take care of. My was completely frizzed, but I used the finger curl technique and it's fine right now. Her eyes are the regular shade of light blue and I love those freckles. Her meet outfit is fine, I rather don't care she has underwear and if it bothers you, just buy her a pair (I found her some) the blouse and boots are the only parts I use, but I hate that skirt. It's an ugly shade of blue and the texture of it just bugs me. Overall I highly recommend Nicki, even though her hair is a pain, she is a great doll, but not for an eight year old. -Anna mod edit to remove broken image links

Here is both pieces worn on two dolls. I have this outfit and rate it a B+ because my sister bought it for $10 on the AG website and it is an athletic outfit and very patriotic, even though I'm not American. However I somewhat do not like it for some reason.. The Leotard. It's really cute, but it snags very very easily. Mine has been snaged and doesn't look that great anymore.. The "warm up suit. I really don't like how the pants and jacket ride up on Jess. It looks weird. I wish it was made of a better material, like the ones for real human tracksuits. Picture of the pants. Like I said the pants bunch up and look weird. Wearing a shirt with the pants All together. The jacket and the pants do not touch each other. Just some evidence to say that this outfit is good only with the leotard One last photo. I gave it a B+ generally because it was only ten dollars and it's great for athletic AGs. Otherwise it does nothing for me.

Hallie is my favourite H.H. doll. I love everything about this doll: her hair which is an auburn colour (and mine is starting to frizz) her eyes which are a hazel/green colour and her meet outfit (because it's PURPLE and it looks really nice on her) She is a very cute doll indeed and great for little girls who are not yet ready for AGs. A+! More photos: Her meet outfit with includes a purple cariangin (only one piece) petal skirt with all different shades of purple, tights that snag easily, purple Maryjane's, a crocheted headband and purse, and a little butterfly notebook. Size compared with a AG doll (AG = '18in H.H. = '16in) Compared with a "teen trends" doll. They are exactly the same (structured wise) but the teen trend doll has rooted hair and Hallie does not. Staring at the sun. (posability obviously better than AGs) One last photo of Hallie.

Ruthie - A I love my Ruthie doll. I got her as a Christmas present from my parents and have loved her since. I love everything about her. Her hair is a little dry at the ends and mine has one side longer than the other, but it doesn't bother me. The colour is darker than Jess' (but the reason being is that Jess' hair has more red highlights than Ruthie's) Her eyes are the prettiest shade of grey and I know some wanted her to have brown eyes, I like the grey eyes because they make her look more unique. Her meet outfit is what I love most about her (partially because I love purple) This colour looks so good on Ruthie and on any dark haired doll. Mine did not come with paper around the sleeves. Her shoes are great and I have had no problems with any doll standing in them. Photo of Ruthie. Enjoy! edited for clarity and to remove previous photos. Her hair looks almost black in some photos, but it does have the reddish highlights. The photo was taken indoors, so this is why her hair appears to be so dark. Also, I forgot to mention that my Ruthie has no lip or cheek colouring. I'm not sure if that's how most Ruthies are, but mine has as much colouring as my PM Sam. I've had Ruthie for a little bit over two years and I still like her, but she's not one of my favourites. My Ruthie's hair has gotten to the point where it's completely fried and unmanagable. I think this is partially my fault, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

PM Samantha - A+ Samantha is my first and favourite American Girl. I was thirteen when I found her at a flea market for $4 in 2006. I was speechless (for the first time in my life, lol) She's from 1993 and is just so stunning. Her hair is lighter than mattel Samantha's and she has partucally no facepaint, but that's okay because she has such long, brown and beautiful eyelashes! Mine has no curl since it is very dry. I love everything about her and if you are debating on getting Samantha, I highly recommend her! Here's some photos (sorry there are some with other dolls) Samantha and Ruthie: Samantha gets an A+ from me. Isn't she lovely?

I love Jess. I got her in early May. She has wonderful red highlights in her dark brown hair! I recommend her to anyone who collects dolls or loves to have an adventure. But I wouldnt recommend her to girls younger than 10. Thats because she has a problem with her hair. Her hair keeps falling out and its getting thin. Is that normal for all Jess dolls? overall I give her an A+ but because of her hair, I give her an A I have never had a problem with Jess' hair. Mine is so thick and lucious that I highly recommend her if you love playing with dolly hair. Jess -> A+ Like I said, I have Jess and give her an A+. Her catolog pics do not do her any justice. She is beautiful and looks great in everything. I love the red highlights in her hair and her hair, like I said, is great for styling and updos. Her face mold is younger looking and she is adorable. I read somewhere that she looks like a chipmunk, but I strongly disagree. I don't have her meet outfit, but if I did, I would grade it an A+ as well. Edit: I've had Jess for three years and I've started to notice that her hair has gotten a bit dry and thin. Just thought I should mention that. She still gets an A+ from me.
