I was just examining this piece in the store and was extremely disappointed that it is made in shiny fake fabric. It looks like a toy costume for Halloween rather than a modern ethnic outfit. Much prefer the turquoise one for a modern selection. And it is overpriced by a lot for what you get and for the synthetic quality. The only things I liked really are the hair adornments and beads on the dress.

I don't know if that does you any good, however.

This dress has recently been changed over from having real beads (plastic) to represent the porcupine quills, to a strip of fabric that is 3 colors and mimics beads. I vastly prefer the real beaded one and if this matters to you you should open the box to check or ask if you purchase this on the secondary market. Do not assume that it will have beads. Most likely if you buy one new from now on you will get the one with the decorative tape.

I recently purchased the cookstove at the Natick store thinking I'd gotten a real catch as it was supposedly retired. I didn't open it and examine it for at least a week. When I finally did I saw that one of the upper doors would not latch closed. It was defective.
The cookstove comes in two pieces and assembles by snapping together. Unsnapping isn't easy and feels like it will break when you do it so putting it away and storing it might be problematic.
I decided to return it and NOT exchange it as I felt that even if I got a non-defective one it still had the potential to break too easily and I am an adult collector. Also it felt so very much like a toy to me. Yes, I understand that it IS a toy, however, it didn't feel like a special or collectible, enduring toy. It felt more like a Toys R Us toy to me.
I returned it without replacing it so clearly, for me, it was a Fail. (I did keep the preserves set that I purchased at the same time.)

At the AG store today I got a very good look at this doll. She was out of the case and I was able to pick her up and look carefully at her hair. I was struck by the beauty and unusual-ness of its color, which few pics can capture. Of all of the pics in this review thread the picture that I've copied below is the closest to the shade. It is so very unique. I would give her a very high rating! She is quite darling, but what you can do with her hair is quite limited IMO. She's great for me, since I have so many dolls, but if I only had one or two I wouldn't recommend her due to that. *locked album link removed* Mod edit to remove duplicate image

Went to AG-Natick today to take a look at this set. Here are some pictures. I hate to dampen anyone's spirits or their enthusiasm for this product if it makes you happy. However, I think it is very breakable. The other adults around the display seemed to be saying the same thing - Cute, but flimsy. They were also talking to each other about why the girls had a car if they couldn't even drive it.
Here are some pictures. (Broken image links removed)
Very thin plastic hood. Not particularly sturdily attached either.
Very flimsily attached sideview mirrors. The windshield wipers are thin plastic, too, and could easily break off.
Interior. Steering wheel not sturdy at all.
Here you see how the windshield is attached to the vehicle.
And here you can see how easily it separates from the vehicle and how flimsy it is.
Here is the boot and you can see how thin the plastic is, just like that of the hood.
Rear bumper, wiggles. Not sturdy.
Rear of vehicle shot.
About 4 girls were around the car with their moms while I was watching. They were opening and closing the hood, and reaching over each other and grabbing at this and that, just like kids do when they explore. It would not hold up to this kind of play for very long, imo. The camper and treehouse (large ticket items from the past) are much sturdier and have many more varied ways for kids to play with them. Also, one good ram into a wall (which kids do, especially when the siblings move in and want to play car-crashes) and it would be smithereens.
As a toy I think it is a failure. For an adult collector that has nostalgic feelings for the era, he/she could make that call on his/her own.

I purchased MG today and the one thing I wanted to make sure to get was this set. I may be in the minority but her dress isn't hanging down over the bottom hoop of the skirt at all. Now that I'm looking at the pics I may try to adjust it. Too tired to try tonight.
Just posting as a warning that for some folks it might not fit all that well under MG's Meet Dress.

I went to the store on Jan. 1st and was playing with display dog. It was my take that it was made to be a sitting not a standing dog.

I love Ruthie. She is a dreamer and draws strength from her dreams. Her dreams do not cripple her but empower her for brave action. My Ruthie is the keeper of the Fairy Stories. A beautiful and strong girl in her own right. That's my Ruthie love.

I am not that picky. I really mostly just go with "do I like the way it looks? And fits?" And in this case my answer is, "Yes! I like the way it looks very much, and it fits well." It is gentle and soft and it brings out a very soft and sweet side of Addy.
I love the pale colors on her, and the pink in her ribbon is really lovely in her long, black hair. I also like how it is a pretty crisp look, rather than a wilted look.
It is really nice to look at in this cold, dark February, right before Valentine's Day. (Pink is great for Valentine's Day.) But I can also see it being a wonderful spring, summer, late summer/early fall, dress.
I'm very pleased with it.

Yesterday at AG-Natick, JustMagicMaria and I were investigating this set. All of the food is attached to the plate.
The items are not attached to the tray.
FYI.

I really like the plates and flumeries. The cake tower is big, but the plate it sits on is very nice. I don't think it is essential, but it is a lovely addition.

I was just looking through some pics I took yesterday at Natick and I see that I sort of got the current PWP long sweater set - sweater and hat - in one of my pictures. It has a few (3?) sequins on the front of the hat and the sweater-coat that you can't see. It is a cute little outfit. It is $15 with a $50 purchase.

With the announcement of Felicity's retirement I got off the fence and finally purchased this outfit. I am so glad that I did.
When worn with Felicity's undergarments this outfit is stunning! It has so much body to it. The fabric is stiff (in a good way) enough to hold shape. The embroidery is so pretty. The little flowers are lovely, and the hat looks gorgeous on Felicity. The ribbon on the hat is full.
Nothing about this outfit is skimpy - which is what I've been thinking about AG outfits in general lately
I'd definitely snatch this up before it goes on ice. It might just be my favorite Felicity outfit.
A+ A+

I just bought this outfit for my little BB, Cherry Candy Cane. Here she is modeling this adorable outfit. Everything fits very well and the quality is good, too. It isn't skimpy, which I love, especially considering many of the outfits for the 18" dolls are skimpy, imo. I cut the tags off of the headband as they look ridiculous on a bald baby. No place to hide them. The shoes go on and stay on nicely. The design of the outfit is unique and very cute. I love the outfit and can't fault it with anything. It was $24. It would be nice if it cost less but nothing does! I'm very pleased with the purchase. A.

I'm pretty darn sure mine is a real shell. If it isn't it certainly looks exactly like one. (I think it's real!) I got Addy 2 years ago for Christmas. It has a dark brown cord that kind of looks like leather. Addy wears her necklace all the time. I like it a lot.

Here are my three babies wearing this outfit - they are each able to wear some of the outfit and coordinate. Bitty Baby Summer is wearing the sweater over the Bugs and Butterflies outfit. No one is wearing the tights in the pic though because it is summertime! I agree with the above poster that the tights are bulky for the shoes. They have gaposis around the ankles with the shoes on, and the crotch of the tights do seem to ride low, but I don't suppose the doll can feel it whereas it would annoy a real person like crazy! The shirt is stiff, but it might soften up with wear. The hat is adorable and looks great with Noelle's hair stuffed underneath, imo. The pants have adorable bows on the ankles. I really like the fact that you can split the outfit up to coordinate 3 dolls, like in my pic, without them being identical.
Great set.

Here are my thoughts to add to the above detailed review.
I had to look through many boxes to find a hat where the bias tape around the outside of the brim met. The one I picked only just meets. The hat fits very very well on BBs head.
Unlike the above reviewer, I think the shoes are tight. It took me a long time, and I do mean a LONG time, to get the blasted things on her feet. They are adorable and will most likely not fall off but I don't see how a child would have been able to get them on her/his doll.
Last note is that on one of the display dolls I looked at (Caucasian doll) the dye from the string of the toy was rubbing off on her fist. That probably wouldn't happen at home because it wouldn't be in one spot for that long most likely, but if it got wet, who knows? Don't know how color fast the string is.
It is an adorable outfit. I love the red accents, and think my BB looks so cute in it.

Here's a pic of my new BB gal. Her name is Summer Joy (her bear is Pippi - like someone's doll listed above!) She is just the sweetest most adorable little baby ever! One of the reasons I picked her is because this review panel said that her head scuffs less easily than the other BBs. I asked the CS about that and she (who has over 25 BBs!) agrees that this doll's head scuffs less than the others and suggested that one could have the other dolls wear bonnets to protect them. Good luck having a child use a bonnet all the time on their doll! Anyway, I give this baby an A+. She has gorgeous skin, with a little pink in the cheeks, and pretty little lips and looks good in everything! She also smells really great. The same CS said that the newer Bitties have been changed to have their skin less shiny. Hers isn't shiny at all, so perhaps that is true. The vinyl is harder than my 18" dolls. Her outfit is very soft and pretty. I haven't read the book yet so no comment on that. It seems nice that there are spaces for the doll owner (or his/her parent) to write details about the new dolly. I checked 5 boxes to make sure the doll's eyes rolled nice and smoothly. I was satisfied with 2/5 boxes on this account. The BB has a current price of $42 for doll, book, and bear.
I just love Summer and am now a BB convert.

I bought this dress for Vesper (Sonali) to wear and the hat fits her head perfectly and feels quite secure on her. Maybe Rebecca's head is bigger than Sonali's head???
The dress is a gorgeous color with gold emblems on it and is a very unique design. I did remove Vesper's underpants because the fabric on the dress is sheer and when they were on there was a panty-line across her abdomen. I don't know if that is the case with Rebecca's undies.
I'm 100% pleased with it.

I received Sonali - renamed Vesper Kunda Das - for Mother's Day yesterday and think she is a stunning and sweet doll. Her hair is extremely long and lovely. It is not as thick as Elizabeth's, but still lovely and wavy. There are many interesting highlights in her hair - red and other light shades, which make it very realistic and pretty. She has more of a glow to her skin than either Addy or Kaya (I have both dolls to compare her to) - less gray undertones; a warmer shade. She also, as everyone knows, has her own unique face mold.
She gets an A+ from me.

For those of you who have had her for a while and have played a lot with her hair: do her curls comb out or do they retain their spring pretty well? Do you do anything to keep them intact? How is her hair different from Samantha's waves and Elizabeth's silkiness and waves? Thank you.

This outfit was released in 2008 and retired later that year with the first archival of Samantha's collection.
Samantha can’t wait to wear this fine dress when Uncle Gard comes to visit during the holidays. It features a wide scalloped collar, satin trim, and delicate lace at the yoke and sleeves. Samantha wears a fancy ribbon headband in her dark curls for a festive look.
I just got it because I returned her spring dress, which yellowed. I think it's lovely. The color is fabulous on her and the hair dodad is very pretty on her, too. It is an older style (meaning older girl, not older in time), I think, and makes her look a little more mature. The quality seems very very good. It takes a couple of days to hang out as the "petals" of velvet under the lace neckline kind of stick up a little when you first get them. I'm pleased with it.

I have had the locket pinned on Sam's Meet Dress since receiving her for Christmas 2005. It has darkened with time and doesn't seem to really shine up. I don't suppose we can expect too much as it isn't real gold. But it is worth mentioning that it doesn't stay shiny.
