I had originally bought the Chic Bun for Marie Grace, and chose caramel because AG calls MG’s hair caramel also. Well, I wanted to let everyone know that it doesn’t match. It’s really significantly lighter. Fortunately, I do think it’s fine for Elizabeth, although it’s slightly darker than her own hair. You can judge from the pics, but I think it works well.
I really love the way it looks. It’s very elegant for a regency look! It would also work well for Victorian costumes, if set slightly lower.
Also, here’s a little tip. I have two daughters who did/are doing competitive cheerleading. Hair pieces were de rigueur until about five years ago, so I have quite a bit of experience with fitting hairpieces on to stay. The key is, first make a bun with the “real hair”, and then wrap it in a hair net. Keeping twisting the hair net and wrapping it around the bun again until the “real hair” bun is as tight and small as possible. Then add the hair piece. If necessary, add a bobby pin on each side for better hold.
I did it quickly for these pics, so it’s not as good as it could have been, but if you take your time, it will be perfect. I did add the extra bobby pins, as the combs didn’t hold as well as I would have liked, but it was my first time using it.
I think the Chic Bun is perfectly adorable. I give it an “A-”!
