DD's Lanie arrived today and I am so thrilled with her. She and I both loved her right off, but she is absolutely more pleasing in person. The meet outfit is right on target for the age range (it's what DD would wear every day if she could) and I'm happy with it. It's soft and well made. LOVE her slip on "Keds" style shoes, again very nice. Her eye color and hair color combination make for a beautiful girl. I give her an A+.
This is with her hair just finger fluffed right out of the box:

Pleasant Company versionI picked this up last Sunday from the wonderful young lady that I purchased some of Felicity's things from last summer. It's a really wonderful set and even though we don't have the Mattel set for a side-by-side comparison, I think DD prefers this one anyway. This set came with a tea pot and lid, sugar, creamer, tablecloth, and 2 of each: tea cups, saucers, plates, forks, knives, spoons and the napkins in red with tulip style flowers (stems are blue, blossoms are yellow). Each piece is well made, and is a bit heavier than some little girl tea sets of today (not all, but some). The pattern on the pieces is adorable, the colors are vibrant and very pretty. The handles on the utensils are not too heavy but are a nice touch for a child's/doll's tea set! One of the things we prefer about this set is the tablecloth and the 2 napkins. The tablecloth is not thin at all and even though the napkins don't match (as they do on the Mattel version) we think they add a touch of whimsy to the set. The 2 large plates have the Pleasant Company logo on the bottom (I'll add photos of those once I can get a good one in daylight). Overall we give the whole set a grade of A.

WB Kirsten is one of my favorites of DD's girls. There's something so sweet and innocent about her face that always makes me smile. The "look" of the vinyl on the WB dolls seems to give them a "softer" expression. While her hair is thin due to the back of the wig being shorn, it doesn't make her any less of a beautiful girl. Her hair does tend to be on the dry side, so we combat that with gentle cleanings, Downey and braid spray on occasion. But it does braid nicely and looks nice just the same. Here is a summertime close up of DD's beloved WB Kirsten.

Samantha's Tea Set ~ Overall Grade A+ Plan a tea party just like Samantha would have had - with family, friends, or even your favorite dolls! 12 Piece Tea Set Includes:2 Girl-Size Cups 2 Girl-Size Saucers 2 Doll-Size Cups 2 Doll Size Saucers 1 Cookie Platter 1 Teapot (With Lid) 1 Sugar Bowl (With Lid) 1 Creamer Planning A Tea Party (14 Page Booklet with fun recipes) Porcelain tea set is dishwasher- and microwave-safe. Box dated 2002. I purchased this late 2005 for DD. The purchase price was half off because it was on clearance, so I paid $50. This is one set that I highly recommend for any collector or Mom with a daughter that loves AG. It is very well made. The flowers and detailed flourishes on the pieces are beautifully done. The colors are vibrant and cheerful. The box insert is stiff foam so the pieces pack nicely but not too tightly that a young lady couldn't manage removing them herself. The pieces are not "heavy" but they are substantial. From the back of the box: Samantha's Tea Set In an elegant household like Samantha's the Lady of the House was expected to be a gracious hostess. When friends came calling at teatime, it was proper for the lady of the house to serve her guest as a sign of hospitality.Samantha's Tea Set includes a booklet on planning your own Victorian tea party - complete with recipes for fun and tasty snacks! The 14 page booklet includes information on Afternoon Tea Parties, Garden Tea Parties, Doll Tea Parties, Place Settings and Decorations, Clothes, Music, and Food. The recipes included are: Cream Cheese & Walnut Sandwiches Jelly Biscuits Lemon Ice (I will see about scanning the booklet and posting also.) I have never regretted purchasing this set for DD. She has used it for 4 years and has taken very good care of it. It was 1 of the first AG themed items she ever received so it's very special, but it's also a very "usable" set. (Sorry for the shaft of sunlight in this photo!) Girl-Size Tea Cup ^ Doll-Size Tea Cup ^ Cream, Sugar, Cookie Platter Inside Cup Detail (Both size cups have this) *Mods if the photos need to be smaller, please let me know. Thanks!*

Charms

We finally completed DD's charm bracelet today. All 8 of the original Historical characters are represented along with their respective pets. These charms are well made, detailed and, substantial for their size. Once you get them on the bracelet it's a bit heavy, but not so heavy that you wouldn't want to wear it. We love that each charm is detailed enough that you can definitely tell which girl is which and what she's wearing, along with any accessories she might be holding. The pet charms are a bit larger in comparison, but they still are very well done. From left to right: Kaya, Steps High, Felicity, Penny, Josefina, Sombrita, Kirsten, Missy, Addy, Sunny, Samantha, Jip, Kit, Grace, Molly and Bennett

This photo makes me smile whenever I see it, so I wanted to add it here. Something about that little Dolly thimble is so sweet!
