Awkward Hat Photo, but Dawn loves this outfit. Unfortunately, I bought it for her when I got her... which is about a week after it was released. I'm probably the only person in the world who paid full price for it, and I wish I'd known it would be on clearance for forever. *facepalm* The pants and shoes get used all the freaking time in our household. Here it is on Margie, from a couple of years ago. I have gotten better at putting the hat on since then, don't worry... I tend to use the AG Fashion Show tshirt as an undershirt.

From the AG website photos, I see that the three buttons to push to "play" the music are behind the music stand. It seems they were on the side of the original piano, but I'm not sure. Any help on this? And what would be the reason for the change? They're behind the music stand in the original too. The volume and power controls are on the side.

I have one of each (pm and Mattel). The Mattel one didn't even come with a picture to cut out, which is why I bought the pm one off a board member with the picture glued inside. The pm one has a fishhook clasp that doesn't stay closed very well, and the Mattel one has a more secure clasp that I like better. Otherwise they are essentially identical. My mini me wears the Mattel one, I'm planning on photoshopping a dolly version of my boyfriend to glue in it.

I think the sign is lame, but I was surprised at the quality of the chair and how sturdy it is, and I think the microphone is adorable. I do like the set a lot, and I don't even mind having paid full price for mine.

...This came with hair clips?? Mine didn't! Maybe they ran out, since the outfit was sold out online before I bought mine at AGPLA... still, grrr. Anyway, I love this outfit, but I don't like the parts together. I am of the opinion that purple and green look too Barneyesque, but the green shirt looks amazing on my hazel-eyed dolls, and I really like how cute the purple dress and boots are too. But I wish mine had come with hairclips!

I have the Hanukkah set and I LOVE it! It's very well-made (real metal menorah), easy to play with (although there are lots of small pieces so it's definitely not for young kids) and SO ADORABLE. Pix:

I checked it out in the store and while it didn't seem as flimsy as I'd expected from people's reviews of it, it's not something I would spend $100 on. The trunk was obviously cardboard, and there was only the one costume... not worth it, IMHO.

I like it except for the little balls at the end of the comb. Is it just me, or do they get stuck in dolls' hair all the freaking time? It's so hard to comb Samantha's hair because the little balls catch on her curls and frizz them. I really wish the ends were smooth, like the hairbrush is (I don't know if the current hairbrushes are like that, because mine is from about 1996, but yeah).

I really like this tote! I don't have any pictures right now, but it's the perfect size to hold 1-2 dolls, the arm strap is nice and large so you can put it on your shoulder, and the zipper pouch is great for holding keys or a phone. I take this bag when I'm bringing dolls somewhere (AGP, hosting a traveling doll) and it's perfect-- the dolls and camera fit in the big part, and my phone and keys fit in the zipper pouch. I wish I'd gotten it for $5 instead of $15 PWP, of course, but it's such a nice bag that I wouldn't mind paying $15 again (if I hadn't known it was available for $5).

I could have sworn these glasses first debuted with the GOT line... up until then you could only get Molly's glasses separately, but I was so excited when they made glasses that looked like mine, and once I finally got Marjorie (#20), I got her these glasses. Mine are from 1996, and still going strong! Marjorie and her glasses Margie, who usually wears the blue ones, tries them on and looks really dorky. Marjorie again I definitely think these glasses look better on PM dolls. Something about the shape of the face, I guess. Anyway, I really love them but I have to be very careful with Marjorie's because I can't replace them.

I bought this outfit for Dawn, my #27: First of all, I REALLY wish this outfit came with a camisole or something, because it just looks skanky without an undershirt. Jacket: I don't know if this is common, but the right hand sleeve is very tight and extremely hard to get on around Dawn's wrist. The left sleeve was just fine. The sleeves also seem a little short. to me, this blazer is a very good example of AG cutting as much fabric as possible from everything in order to save on costs, and I hate it. The button is not super easy to button, and I'm afraid it may fall off, especially if I put it on a PM doll. Pants: I LOVE the pants, except they are a little tight in the waist. I don't dare try them on a PM doll, since, as you can sort of see, they pull even on Dawn, and she's the skinniest and newest doll I have (from 2009). I love how the pants are really long, though, and the color is nice. I kind of wish the flowers weren't there so they would be a better mix and match piece. Shoes: Very cute and sturdy! They stay on well and are easy to take on and off. I like the shoes a lot. Beret: I don't know why it's such a horrible clashy color for the red jacket, but the style is cute, even though the beret is difficult to get on (much like Molly's meet beret and Mia's 2-in-1 hockey outfit hat). As you can see, I had a bit of trouble getting the hat to look good. Overall: C+. Love the pants and shoes, overall cute, but definitely could stand to be improved (and cut bigger for god's sakes!!) and add a camisole. Currently, Margie is wearing this outfit with a white t-shirt underneath and it looks much better (I'll try and post a picture sometime soon).

I like the look of this outfit (well, I'd like it better if it weren't so darn pink), but I agree-- the hoodie-top part is VERY hard to put on. Ugh! I love the leggings, though-- they're nice and versatile, and the shoes are actually very easy for me to put on. Maybe mine are looser than some others? I think the headband is pretty cute, too. The underwear annoys me because it's so low-cut. I don't know if others feel this way, but I always liked to tuck the neck strings into the underwear so they don't get all over the place, which was REALLY easy with my PM dolls with tall underwear and long strings... but now that they come with super low-cut underwear and short strings, I can't do anything with them.

I got my revised (not including earrings, that is) #27 at AGB Atlanta in July of 2009. I love her! Even though she no longer comes with earrings, I opted to get her ears pierced when I bought her because I thought that earrings suited her. I named her Dawn Katherine. Here are some pictures of Dawn: Right after purchasing her, at the mall in Alpharetta Close-up I am so in love with these dark blue eyes! Is Kit really the only other doll who has them? I like them so much more than the pale ones, they seem like they have a lot more depth. I think she looks nice in the photographer outfit (which I purchased with her), except that I had trouble getting her hat on without messing up her hair, so please excuse the massive hat-fail here. Here's Dawn at the B&B Dallas. She has one of the kindest faces I've ever seen on an AG. I would give this doll an A. The only reason she doesn't get an A+ is because she has a short piece of layered hair on her right side that is too short to style in a lot of ways (it sticks out of braids, falls out of ponytails, etc)-- it's chin-length, like Kit's hair. I was worried her wig would be thin, but Dawn's wig is actually very lovely and a good thickness. Not as thick as some of my PM GOTs, but definitely better than I was expecting. Her hair is very nicely layered, and --I didn't know this until I bought her-- she has darker hair underneath the pale blonde, which is GORGEOUS. Under the top layer of blonde hair, her hair is kind of darker blonde. Very realistic-looking... next time I have my camera out, I will take pictures of it. Overall, a very nice doll! I bought her to be a traveling doll, but I can't seem to give her up, haha.

Okay, here are some more pictures of what I was talking about in my previous post: Black marks on Marjorie's legs from sitting at the piano bench. The black marks only appear on bare vinyl, so if your dolls are wearing tights, there's no problem (Samantha is currently sitting there, and her white tights are spotless). I haven't tried to remove it yet, mostly because I always forget it's there. (Marjorie could use a touchup anyway, I haven't cleaned her properly since I got her in 1996.) This is how the girls have to sit in order to put their hands properly at the piano. I photographed Marjorie in her culottes for the sake of detail, but she looks much too strange to actually stay at the piano in that outfit. Here is a lovely closeup of Samantha's butt. This is how she sits to play the piano (I lifted her skirt up to show detail). When the skirt is folded down, she looks fairly normal, as seen in this picture: Hope that helps somebody!

Here's Marjorie in her wonderfully '90s Valentine's Day outfit! (She has hearts woven into her hair, which is why she looks sort of like a boy haha.)

I was really disappointed in these capris. I thought they would be a great mix-n-match set of pants for my girls, but they are too tight to even go on! I put them on Mara, who is a skinny PM, and she couldn't sit down at all. It was immensely difficult to get them on/off her calves, so I haven't bothered trying them on anyone else. I may try them on Samantha or Margie (my Mattel dolls) but yeesh. Wayyyy too tight. D+ because they're super cute, but they don't fit!

Original Rain Slicker and Hat:The fabric is nice and heavy, but the heaviness makes it really hard to put on Molly. I also lost the hat years ago, so Molly wears it with her beret: I wish Molly had some real winter wear, but this layers over things pretty well, and anyway, it doesn't get too cold here in California so Molly doesn't need anything thicker!

I have the PM version with snaps. Kind of annoying-- one of the shoes has a slightly fatter, shorter strap, and the other has a longer and thinner strap. I don't think I've ever used the red socks in the 12+ years I've had this set.
I like this set, though, because the other socks (the white ones) are quite versatile, and the mary janes are better than the cheap plastic ones Molly comes with.

I don't think there's elastic in my beret, but I have no problems getting it to stay on: It just takes a little while. Also, my locket did NOT come with the picture of Dr. McIntire. WTF? Not cool. (I bought one with a picture off a board member, and it was an older one with a different clasp that I don't like as much.)

Original Pleasant Company Bennett I HATE this Bennett. Ugh. I got him for my birthday in 1995 or so, and he was creepy even then. Usually I like the PC/PM items, but the animals... not so much. (Ditto Kirsten's PM cats. Gross.)

I think this outfit is really cute-- I treated myself to it a few days after I returned from living in Dublin. The wig is thin, and kind of hard to get right. The only doll who wears it around here is Mara, who already has red hair so she looks great in it and you can barely tell.
When I went to AGPLA and got this outfit, the model doll was wearing a wig and also holding one in her hand. Creepy!

I love the GS outfit, it matched the one I had in 1994, haha. My dolls don't wear it much anymore, but it got quite a lot of use in the 90s. I love the shoes that came with mine-- mine had the fuzzy loafers (like were in the catalog pictures of the time), not the smooth ones that are pictured above (and which my sister and our two friends also got... for some reason, I'm the only one who got the fuzzy ones). I'll try to post a picture at some point.

I love this outfit, except the shoes don't stay on at all. When I was 11 (in 1996), Marjorie and I would dress as twins, because I totally had a tie-dyed shirt, shortalls, and tan birks. LOL.

My only real problem with this outfit is the back. The front has cute (and I believe, period-appropriate?) pleats on it, but the back just looks cheap by comparison. I, too, wish she came with button boots instead of the boring mary janes, but they're decent all-purpose shoes, and they blend in with the tights so that's cool.
I have the Mattel version (I got my Sam in December of 2008), and the fabric is really thin and kind of wimpy-feeling.
Overall, I'd say B.

My sister has a PM #12 named Amy, and she sheds horribly! I gave her a little trim to even things out, but her hair is really bad. I have a #20 and her hair is just fine, and we got them at the same time (1996). Here's a picture of Amy and Josefina.

I kind of put it on like a beret, slouched over to the side: I think it's actually one of the easier hats to deal with (god, Molly's beret is awful!). It's hard to get doll hats to look right in general. Good luck!

I love the purple skates! They're really easy to get on/off because of the elastic, which I love. I don't own Mia's other skates, but I own the GOT skates (with the purple sparkly dress from about 1996), which tie up the front like Kirsten's boots. The only downside to Mia's purple skates is that, unlike the GOT skates I have, the skate guards do NOT have little elastics to help keep them on. I finally just gave up and put the skate guards in another place so I wouldn't lose them, because they will NOT stay on the blades.
Overall grade: A- (minus for the stupid skate guard problem)

I like this outfit a lot overall. I got one for Marjorie (my ice skater) and I was pretty pleased with everything, except: ~The buttons/loops to attach the mittens to the sleeves of the blue shirt took me FOREVER to attach. ~The blue leg warmers are a bit of a pain to attach under skates (I wish they were actual socks) ~The stupid hockey tunic is really tight, especially on poor PM Marjorie: Like a couple of other people, I expected it to be loose like a sports tunic. Oh well. Overall: B+
