I will have to double-check this once I get home, but if I recall correctly (and this is from memory, mind you) the suitcase is 2-2 1/2 inches deep, 3 1/2 - 4 inches tall, and 5-6 inches long. I wish I could be more exact, but I don't have it with me at this second.

This outfit is worn by Felicity in the book Changes for Felicity. It was introduced in 1991 and retired with Felicity's archival in 2010.PC description: Felicity's night shift is edged with lace around the sleeves and neck. The matching lappet cap has long flaps, called "lappets," that tie under her chin. To keep her feet warm on her bedroom's bare wooden floor, Felicity wore soft leather slippers called "mules."Grade: A - This is a sweet and historically accurate outfit for Felicity. It's not too over the top, and seems realistic to her time. Plus, there are nice details, like the ribbon that allows you to gather the bodice. However, the mules are a little over-simplistic, and even a bit flimsy. The outfit is boring - yes, white was realistic, but does everything have to be pure white? I wish they had added just a little bit of embroidery or detail somewhere in this outfit. For example, the lace could have been an off-white cream or something along those lines.

Feclity's Rose Garden/Original Meet Outfit Grade: A + I have always loved this outfit. Some people (Mattel, cough cough) might think it's boring, but I think it's a perfect every-day exploring outfit. It really makes sense for a little girl in her position - the color would hide most dirt, the roses are a sweet but not overly-frivolous touch. Plus, it just looks great with Felicity's hair color and complexion. The detail and quality are top notch. The outfit came with a plain shift, shoes, stockings, and a cream ribbon. You can't really see the shoes in this picture, but you can see the thickness of the stockings.

I really like this set, especially the hat. Not a whole lot to add otherwise because the mittens are a bit basic - but they do match with the coat, which is nice.

Addy's Summer Dress and Straw Hat Grade: A - This outfit is really adorable. I love the print, which suits the time period yet is still cheery. The broach adds a nice touch, though I do think it's fragile and will probably fall off of a pin easily. Anyone getting this outfit for a young girl might be advised to remove the broach and put it somewhere safe (like a jewelry box) until the girl is older. The hat is a nice accessory. Honestly, at this point, I feel like I have oodles of straw hats from America Girl. I only start minding when it seems they recycle the same hat with different ribbons. However, this one is a little shallower than some of the others, and the checked ribbon is a cute detail. I think it's quite authentic to the time and it's different enough to other straw hats so as not to feel redundant.

I have this outfit and like it. I love the colors. My only issue is with the pleats, which seem to have been messed up with mine. It is like the pleat panel of fabric is too long for the bodice piece. Pressing might fix it, but I have to wait to get a new iron to try that. But honestly, pulling the skirt down doesn't help, and the bodice is fully extended, and I feel like it is a flaw on my particular dress.

Skateboard Outfit and Book
Grade: A Includes: Hoodie, shorts, tank, deck shoes, skateboard, book, and 10 rubber bands. This is a cute, action-oriented outfit that I really enjoy. It looks like something a tomboyish girl would wear (aside from the pink) and makes a pleasant change from the frills-a-plenty the JLY line has had lately. The hoodie: It's the same gray as the Licorice Play outfit, with a screen print of a tropical flower. Not much else to say - it fits well, and whether or not you think it's cute is a matter of opinion. I happen to think it does, as I own a number of similar sweatshirts myself. The top: It's a nice, vibrant shade of pink. It's a good piece, though I'd have preferred another color since there are a lot of pink tanks now. C'est la vie. The shorts: I love the camo print, and the color on its own. However, the color seems out of place with the rest of the outfit. The only other blue is on the bottom of the board, which you can't see. I think a nice green camo would have worked better, since it would match with the design on the shoes and the leaves on the sweatshirt. The shoes: Why? WHY? Why more pink shoes? 9 out of 10 AG shoes are pink these days. Ok, yeah, cute, great detailing, but really, do we need more light pink? The board: Overall, very cute. The top is more authentic than the last board, and it has an adorable design on the bottom. My only quibble is with the elastic band. Look, if someone can't balance their doll well enough to stand on the board, that band is too flimsy to help so it's a lost cause no matter what. Why mar a perfectly good board with that stupid band? Hairbands: Oh, they're pink tiny hairbands. It's nice they included them, but I can see them getting lost and broken easily.

That's actually really interesting that they had so many different versions of the shirt - I wonder if they underestimated demand, and had to get more made from a seperate factory. That might also explain why I didn't get the flats - they'd run out temporarily and just put Molly shoes on.

Meet Outfit I Grade: A The Good: Lots of mix and match pieces. Some very classic "basic" pieces like the white blouse, t-shirt, etc. Good color coordination, and majenta is a great "girl" color without being too barbie. The Bad: Technical: The shirt connects with velcro, rather than buttons, which means it doesn't look as nice hanging open. And if you leave the blouse open, you have a majenta overload! Emotional: While a part of me loves that the Today Outfits are such great indicators of the trends of the times, this outfit to me is not at all representative of 1995. At the time I got this doll, I was twelve, and girls were no longer wearing leggings and big shirt combos like this. This outfit is something Blossom would wear, and by 1995 Blossom had hit the realm of "uncool." So the doll felt dated as soon as I got it! However, if I just think of it as "early nineties outfit" I don't feel as bad. Notes: While the description states that this comes with velvet flats, my set never came with the velvet flats, a fact I remember quite distinctly. Instead, it came with the same plastic Mary Janes that you get with Molly and Samantha. Of course, I forgot these at my childhood home in Washington so I couldn't include them in the picture :-(

Cheerleader Outfit Gen. 1 Grade: A - Overview: This is a cute, classic cheer leading outfit. It fits well, and is basically identical (except in color) to the outfits the cheerleaders in our high school wore at the time. It does look a little un-authentic in some ways - like the letters used for the "AG" both seem a little wimpy. Pros: * Fits well. * A good color combination - not too pink, and many real schools are red and black. * You can't see it very well in the picture, but the inside of the pleats are actually black, which is a nice touch. * Pom-poms are full and high-quality. They fit in the dolls' hands easily. Cons: * The shoes have glue showing, and with age the glue and rubber have yellowed. * The embroidery on mine is starting to pull away from the sweater. maybe it was glued and the glue is wearing off? My new doll is only 1 or 1/2 in skinnier than my old PM dolls (I know - I measured this shirt is SOOO huge on her, that I think it would be huge even on the old dolls. Like I said, I pinched it in the back. The sweater is too wide in the shoulders and too long and baggy in the arms as well - and there is no difference in arm or shoulder length on the PM dolls so I imagine that would be the same. There might be variation within the sweaters, h owever.

Grade: B + The Good: The quality, as usual for this time period, is really high. The knitting is great, the fabric is great, etc. Plus, this is an outfit I could easily see myself wearing - scratch that, an outfit I HAVE worn - while at a winter time cabin. The Bad: As you can see in the picture, this sweater is HUGE on the doll. It looks like she is wearing a sweater for another doll, not specially made for her. The sleeves are too long and need to be pushed up, and the sweater is about twice as wide as she is. I know these sweaters are supposed to be big, but this is ridiculous. (For reference, I pinched the sweater in the back for the photo) Note: I ordered mine right before it was discontinued, so I never got the red bandana.

Cheerleader Outfit IV & Book (2006-) Grade: A + The Good: Wow, where to start? I've been pining after this outfit since it came out - I was never a cheerleader, but I loved the girly girly colors and styling. You definitely get a lot for the money. A sweater, pleat skirt, cute low-rise blue spankies, white socks with a blue stripe, white and purple sneakers, megaphone, pom poms, ribbon hairband, book of cheers and let's not forget the stickerrs to customize your megaphone with! This outfit is great quality - as good as my old PM Generation 1 Cheerleading outfit. So those disappointed with Mattel should take heart because it looks like they've been listening. Their new products (I've gotten a bunch of them ) while perhaps a little pink and purple-y are at least well constructed and well thought out. The details are great. The "Cheer" logo on the sweater is even embroidered the same way they embroider lettermen jackets. The Bad: I don't know, I can't think of anything. This outfit comes with so much! Oh, wait, no, I thought of something: The hair band isn't really that stretchy. You can only loop it twice which means you have to do a ponytail - other styles are out. You can see what I mean in the picture.

Blue Jean Basics, Generation 1 Grade: A Where to start? This was one of the first Girl of Today outfits and it's still classic. A red t-shirt, blue jeans, black belt and a black converse. You don't get any more modern timeless than that! The Good: Like I said, this outfit seemed meant to last. There are many details that make this outfit great like the little logos on the converse shoes, and the realistic removable leather belt. The Bad: The jeans are pretty tight. I have to struggle to get them onto my PM Today Girl and they're even snug on my skinnier Mattel dolls. This means they always look squished in the hips, and sometimes you can see the velcro closure in the front. I don't know if it was just my set, but I've noticed the "squished" look in other outfits as well.

Skateboard AccessoriesGrade: B These were meant to go with, obviously, the skateboarding outfit. Unfortunately, while I thought the outfit was adorable I never did get around to buying it before it retired. I did get these on sale on a whim because, hey, who knows, I might have an Avril Lavigne doll, right? Right. At any rate, I like the color - I always was a sucker for pink and orange. The overall design, however, is lackluster. It's cute, but most tricked out boards I see usually have more 'zzas. The quality is good, but not great. The velcro straps for the knee pads and elbow pads are annoying because they don't stick - if you stretch them over a shirt or pants, they come undone about every thirty seconds. Another missing detail is the pads: all of the pads, elbow and knees, are identical. I may just be picky, but growing up I wore elbow and knee pads and there was a big difference in how they looked and how they protected. I feel like the doll looks strange because she's wearing elbow-pads on her knees. The Good: * The color combination is fun. * It's easy to balance the doll on the board. * The helmet fits well and is easy to get on. The Bad: * Velcro comes undone easily. * Pads are boring, generic, and all look alike. * Helmet is boring. More Pictures:

Orienteering Accessories (1998-2001) Grade: A + The Good: Yet another element in one of my favorite AGOT sets. The orienteering accessories continue the theme of quality and authenticity. The little compass really works, and makes a perfect accent to the camping outfit. The unfolding map is not only realistic, but made of a durable material I wish that they made real maps out of! The lamp is a great touch, and while the batteries need to be replaced as a girl I found this went perfectly inside the tent. Finally, the little binoculars are just plain adorable and really bend the way real binoculars do, though I haven't tried looking through them to see if they work. The bad: Neon orange and yellow were an unlikely color for binoculars - but since they're a small piece and probably easily lost, I could see the logic.

Campfire Utensils (2001-2003) Grade: A + The Good: Again, with this set, it's authenticity. I probably wouldn't have lugged a coffee pot on a hike with me, but when hiking I had a mug exactly like these ones and the dishes were a common sight in hiking and camping stores. There are also a lot of great details: The marshmallows have little holes through them so you can really place them on the sticks and when you click them into the graham crackers they look just like real s'mores. The fork and spoon are also cute. The Bad: I can't think of a lot to say about this set. Maybe the fact that you only get one set of silverware. Or the fact that you get a fork and spoon but none of the food included requires either a fork or spoon. All in all, I think this would have been even better if it included more common campfire food - like roasted hot dogs and corn. And it might have been nice to have a cooking pot rather than a coffee pot.

Backpack Essentials (1998-2003) Grade: A The Good: All right, I'm not going to lie. The backpacking set is one of my all time favorite Girl of Today Sets. The accessories are no different. The backpack itself is great because it has a surprising amount of carrying space for a doll back, the closures are somewhat accurate and there's even a place for a rolled sleeping bag and your water bottle. Speaking of the water bottle, it's not one solid plastic piece like you'd expect but several separate pieces that combine to give you an authentic mini water-bottle. The Bad: While the back pack is something akin to what we had at sleepaway camp, those packs were really terrible! By the time this outfit was released, external frames weren't common - especially for kids! Everyone I knew used internal frame backpacks and they continue up until today. While I understand there are limits to what AG can do, this backpack is annoying in that it wasn't entirely accurate. However, that's a bit of a nitpicky gripe. Also, I can see the tiny pieces of the first aid kit getting lost by a child very easily. The pieces are a bit questionable, as well. I would have liked to see some anitbiotics and poison ivy aloe relief instead of the one-time use gauze pads, tape, and scissors. A wrapping bandage might have been better as well. But I'm still giving this set a high grade because the quality is so high.

Tent & Chair (2001-2003) Grade: A The Good: Tent: When constructed, this tent is large enough for two dolls. It has two windows that roll open or velcro close, and a double door that also opens. The colors coordinate well and are just nice and bright. The material quality is high, as usual. Chair: Cute! The chair unfolds with a snap. What else is there to say? The Bad: Tent: The six tent poles are not connected to one another and only pressure keeps them together. This makes the tent somewhat tricky to assemble. I can see a young child (say, around seven or eight) having issues and needing a parent's help. Chair: If you don't center the doll right, the chair can fold in on itself - whoops! Overall, I think this is a great project. However, from what I've seen, the OG tents are almost as good! Unless you're a completist, I wouldn't break my neck getting this retired on E-Bay when you can get a similar one for $15 dollars with a sleeping bag from target.

Tunic/Legging PJs Why wear just a nightgown when you could also wear a night gown and tight pants? This is another cute AGP exclusive. While the top is the same-old pink we're used to (couldn't they have gone with periwinkle) it still has some nice touches to dress it up, like bell sleeves. The leggings are my favorite part, white with silver stars. These look adorable under the tunic, but are also great with other AG items (or I just have the doll wear them like pants - that's what I did as a girl)

AGP Exclusive - White Bubble SkirtEnjoy the moist, sticky sheen of bubbles in a skirt!
Oh, that's not what you meant by bubbles? This is a nice, basic, cute little white skirt. I don't know if it's worth $10, but I thought it was a good mix and match item and I had money to burn, so I got it anyways. The term "bubble" refers to the fact that there's no hem--the fabric is doubled back and sewed directly to the waist, creating a bubble effect. Normally, I don't like that but I think they pulled it off well. It's a nice, subtle touch that gives the skirt a cute poofiness and a little trendy edge. For those of you who don't think little girls should wear short skirts, you'll be happy to know that the skirt looks as cute sitting at the hips as it does at the waist. Ah, to have that coveted AG-rectangular figure once more ... My one problem is the star print - I don't know why. It seems lackluster. It makes the skirt look more like a gym or tennis-skirt rather the cute, slightly-dressy style it is. This skirt needs--no-- deserves, something with more "oomph." Something like the Studs in the Studly Star Hat. Unfortunately, I don't yet have a picture of this item on a doll as Jackie refused to wear it, saying, "Get Eddie to wear it, she's the one with a cutesy complex!" So check back later for pictures of Eddie wearing the skirt.

Or the feminine, cute, equivalent of stud.Another adorable, non-pink (hurray!) AGPLA exclusive. This is a cute black military style-hat. It has red stitching, and a star made out of red-studs (oh, suddenly the name makes sense, right?). It was $8. A little pricey, but so worth it, if you like hats. (I DO! I DO!) It would probably look best on a fair-haired doll, but I don't know because Jackie snagged it before Eddie could. The ensuing girl-fight wasn't pretty, but Jackie won. Here it is on a doll: Grade: A +

AGPLA Exclusive - Star Trail T-ShirtI saw this t-shirt and thought: MUST HAVE. That doesn't happen to me often with AGP exclusives. It's cute. It's black. It's a t-shirt and the star-trail looks like comets. It fits Jess fairly well. The only draw back is that the collar seems strangely done to me - it looks like they turned it under and sewed it, rather than doing a separate collar piece, if you know what I mean. In other words, the finishing work is not up to par. However, you don't notice if it's on the doll, or if you aren't a nit-picker like me, so it's a small, uh, nit-pick. Jackie's gone somewhat Goth/Emo/Sk8r and approves of the shirt. Now she feels she can grab her board and hang out with the other teeny-boppers--I mean, cool middle schoolers--at the Galleria Friday Night, standing around the fountain and pretending that her hair's so heavy she can't lift her head. She's been wanting to do that forever.

Jess A for looks, C for quality.
I really adore my current Jess doll. The pictures really don't do her justice. Her hair is a lovely shade of brown red, with a little curl. Her face is just plain pretty. While she's believable as half asian, I think she could pass for almost any ethnicity in a pinch. She looks great even in Josefina's outfits (I don't have a Josefina doll but I have a lot of her clothes).
The negative on this doll is that there have been NUMEROUS complaints about quality control flaws. I myself had to return two before I found one without a problem. My first Jess had bald patches in her wig and hair that was falling out, and the second had crossed eyes. Ultimately, I had to go through nearly every doll in AGPLA to find one without a really bad wig or funky eyes. Since I had never had a problem with AG quality in the past, this was a shocker! Ask around and many other people have had similar problems.
If you're willing to hang in there and keep trying, though, ultimately you'll get a great doll.

Riding Outfit I Grade: B +/ A - Price: $26 Review: This is the first of the many horse-oriented outfits AG would come with, and consists of an English Style coat, jodhpurs (leggings), riding boots and hat. Overall, this outfit is cute and well-made. It's a classic riding outfit that we've seen on many a little girl taking dressage classes, and I can imagine a girl coming into the house going, "Oh, mummy, the new pony is oh so smashing! Has the cook put out any crumpets and tea perhaps?" If you sense that I'm sort of scraping the barrel to find something to say about this outfit, you would be correct. That's probably the outfit's greatest problem. It's very standard, very safe. There is not one piece that stands out, thus, the lower grade. Also, I just don't know if there's quite enough there to justify the relatively high price (especially at the time). Pros: - Classic - Well-made. - The boots in particular are awesomely detailed. - Accurate - The leggings go on easily, and even have elastic stirrups. Cons: - Velcro closures instead of snaps. - The shirt closes in the back instead of the front. - Fits a little large on my dolls. - Unimaginative. Pictures! Just the shirt: The boots:

The Santa's Helper Outfit Grade: A Someone on this board called this outfit the Santa Baby outfit, and I have to agree. But while some may consider it a little too-provocative, I don't think the outfit itself is racy - it's just that it evokes waitresses at office Holiday parties or the Jingle Bell Rock skit in Mean Girls. Taken objectively, however, this outfit has little to, er, object too. It's also quite cute, and quite classic for a JLY offering, which has of late been more trendy than modern. Pros: * Adorable. * Complete - this has it all, from boots to scarf! * The scarf is easy to get on and off and quite versatile. Rather than going with velcro, it's one of those scarves that pulls through a loop. * The boots are easy on-off, unlike previous JLY boots in this style (read: I Like Your Style boots, or the Winter Fun outfit boots). They actually fit and, oh yeah, they are really cture. Cons: * The velveteen material has a tendency to come with mars and lines, typical of cheap velveteen. I had to go through a couple of boxes at the store to find one without blemishes. * The fur is a little thin and not as lush as one might wish. What I'd pay: $26 What it costs: $28 The Book: "Holiday Hints" - This book is the best of the bad books included with the outfits so far. The Holiday Hints are, gasp, actually helpful! Especially for the 10 year old audience they are intended for. This book includes advice on how to properly mingle at boring holiday parties, and how to politely answer repetitive, annoying grown-up questions like, "Look how you've grown!" It does have some weird ideas that I don't imagine will actually go over well in real life - like a section on "Wacky Wagers" that shows you party joke/tricks typically performed by annoying 12 year-old boys and obnoxious uncles. Details and pictures: Dress w/out scarf: Accessories: Detail of the embroidery:
