I found that the cardigan and t-shirt looked really nice and more age-appropriate with a pair of jeans or khaki cargos. But maybe that's just what I wore at that age.
I agree that the sequin detail is a bit extraneous and too much. When I had the Starflower Outfit, I paired the cardigan with the lilac blouse and it looked very nice, but still a bit business-casual for an eleven year old! (That's how old Beatrice is.)
I don't care for the boots at all, but the outfit looks very nice with Kit's school shoes.
