Ever since I saw Miss #60 at AGPLA, I could not stop thinking about her. After selling some items here, I had the money to purchase her, and Cassia arrived today.
I am very pleased with the doll. Even though I told myself no more classic molds, the striking combination of her black-brown hair with blue eyes just stood out to me. In addition, I very much wanted a doll with a low maintenance wig to be my traveling doll.
Face paint:
I really am pleased with the face paint. She has a natural looking, light touch of blush on her cheeks, and her lips are an appropriate pink shade that does not get washed out by her dark hair.
Eyes:
Her eyes are what AG states to be blue, but for some reason, my doll looks like her blue eyes are a bit more vibrant that the doll I looked at in LA. Perhaps it is just that particular batch of eyes, as even compared to McKenna (see below), they seem the slightest more vibrant. They look gorgeous with her dark wig.
Wig:
AG states her wig to be black-brown, so I compared her to Catharine (#54). While the two types of hair color strands are indeed similar (black and brown), #60's wig has the brown more evenly dispersed throughout the wig, while Catharine has noticeable streaks of brown throughout her hair. The feeling of the hair between the two dolls does not exactly seem the same. So I am not sure if it is just a batch difference or if indeed different types of hair are being used. The part is a sewn part. The wig is a good thickness, and does not seem like it would tangle easily. I tried a single and double braids. The shortest layer framing her face simply was too short to go in the single braid in the back, and stuck out in the pigtail braids. But otherwise, the hair is long enough for braiding, and I imagine many other hair styles.
Overall, I give the doll a resounding A+. I am very pleased with this doll, and as agfanfrombeginning mentioned, she will look great in every color. While wigs with red hues pose issues for red-colored clothing and blonde-haired dolls pose issues with yellow-colored clothing, her dark hair provides no possible clashing that I can think of. In addition, her light eyes help offset when she will be dressed in dark-colored clothing.
I also want to add that #60 will make a great starter doll. Her wig is straight, hence easy to maintain and is long enough for hair-dos; two common features that I think parents and little girls want.
A few pictures. Not the best, since it is storming outside, but I will take more when the weather is more cooperative.
