I started writing this review and almost put it in the Accessories section. Good thing I looked here first.
Mini Macintosh
Boot your American Girl’s Apple Macintosh computer with the flip of a switch. Use the keyboard to scroll through her field trip report about the planetarium. Scoot the mouse along the mousepad to add stars to the constellation on the screen.
$32 GSAC discontinued 1999
A very nice and highly detailed piece. The keys are labeled and the keyboard can actually be pressed (all the letter keys are actually one large key) and the mouse can be pressed or clicked as well. My version, bought from a member, did not come with a mousepad. In a pinch, a piece of paper or foam board can be used as a mousepad.
The on/off switch is located on the back of the monitor. I did not try to turn on the computer and because the battery compartment (located on the bottom of the CPU/Monitor) had a broken tab, I could not access the battery compartment. Still, even as a display piece, it looks great.
As others have mentioned about the size, I thought it seemed a bit small when I held it in my hands, and I felt it was small, even as a child's computer. I checked it against my 1:6 dolls and their hands fit perfectly on the keyboard for touch typing. I would say that this accessory was closer to 1:5 scale than truly 1:3 scale. it is still a wonderful piece and I'm really glad to have it.
