I apologize for the horrible photos, I took them rather quick, and Caroline's Skiff is currently on display on top of my curio cabinet where the lighting isn't that great and I was too lazy to get out my flash. I'll be sure to update with better photos once I have the chance to take them.
Also, these are fresh out of the box pictures, I didn't get a chance to steam the sailcloth (which it really needs) or take a Swiffer duster to it (which it really needs). Ok, enough of the disclaimers, onto the review!

A rather large piece, the Skiff is made of wood, I do agree with the above reviewer that the coating makes it seem plastic but it's definitely wooden with a good weight. "Miss Caroline" is written on the side.

There are silver plastic knobs that hold the oars, and but the oars themselves are wood. The knobs barely hold them on and they get knocked off with the slightest movement. They can grind the holes of the wood if not careful. I'm no expert on boats/ships but I agree with the other reviewers that the scale is way off. I can understand that in terms of storage and display, the piece would be even bigger, but for play value, the dolls can't even reach the oars, nor does it seem they would hit the "water". A little disappointing, but again, I can't imagine how much bigger this would need to be to be accurately scaled.

The mast is made of plastic as well. The sailcloth is a canvas material, with elastic to easily slip on and off. I agree the flag is a simple piece of ribbon, I would have liked to have seen an American Flag from 1812 as a part of the piece. The sail seems to be a little smaller in scale as well, but same as the oars, any bigger, it would be difficult to display/store.

The skiff has two seats for the dolls to sit. Caroline is currently standing in it, as her shoes don't match her new dress (*gasp* oh the humanity!). Once I get her appropriate shoes in I'll take better photos! Her lavender dress was made by the talented suzieq of DollSizeDesigns on Etsy

Overall, I give it a B. I wanted everything from Caroline's collection, and it's such a huge part of her stories that I had to have it, even if it ends up being more of a display piece.
