This is a really fun outfit and can be matched well with other times that were recently released.
I was surprised by the fabric of the jacket. I'd been thinking it was denim or canvas, but it's actually a sweatshirt knit. The length seems to be mostly to accommodate the tie detail in the t-shirt, since it ends right above that. Also surprising is that there's a Coconut embroidered on the back in pale blue! The pockets on either side of the front of the jacket are real pockets, which is awesome.
I didn't know until I got this, but the shoulders of the t-shirt are smocked. Very cute! It fits quite nicely, too.
The cropped pants are kind of long and I couldn't get them to scrunch up with the strings for that purpose because the canvas material is so heavy. Also, they didn't fit quite right in the bum, like they were too tight for Marelise, or something. The pockets at the knees of each leg are real pockets, but the flaps don't work. There's a little label on the back left of the cropped pants, which I thought was cute, because it's the same lavender of the shirt. (kinda like how the label on the jacket is blue.)
The sandals are quite cute! The soles are the same as the espadrilles with the Sweetheart Skirt set, but the uppers are a strip of elastic covered with fraying blue and lavender material. There's also a bit of elastic to go around the doll's heel. They fit well and are really cute! They remind me a lot of the sandals from Licorice's Best Friend outfit, except more casual.
I agree that the hair bands suck. They're really thin, really small elastics in pale blue and exactly like the kind you can get in the hair aisle at Walgreens. You do get a bunch of them, though, in case some are lost or something.
The book is 57 Things to Be Happy About and it's pretty cute. Some of the things are "watching the sun rise," "opening birthday presents," "having R-E-S-P-E-C-T," and "being me." Most, but not all, have an illustration and most of those include Coconut and/or Licorice. It's a cute book, one of the cuter ones, but not as nice as the short story books.
Overall, I give this set an A- for versatility, style, and color!
