Meet Outfit II

I don't have a Samantha, but I wanted this dress for one of my dolls, not yet decided which one. My mother did not want it for her PC Samantha, did not feel it looked "right" on her, and without putting it on her, I agree. She has a substantial looking Sam that just seems to look right in the older Sam outfits, not this light and airy dress.
But it's a very pretty dress that would look wonderful on a number of dolls. The pink is a lovely shade. I agree that shoes like Rebecca's new meet shoes in burgundy would have looked much better. I am disappointed in these shoes that I feel are only a little better than the old vinyl basics that Sam originally got. There should have been a buckle or a something on the strap. They did not have velcro back then, I'm sure. I'm glad the sash is velvet and burgundy, and the tights/ bloomers are fine.
I give this a B. I wish it were more substantial, more fabric, and I wish that the shoes were better. It's cute, I like it, but it's on the "light" side and wanted something that screamed quality and substance. Is it worth $36? Clearly, it was for me as I paid that. But I think it is pricey even if the hair ribbon were included. I don't think it is as nice as a number of AG outfits that are priced at that range, an example being the Brocade Holiday dress from last year (that did NOT sell out at $36). That dress looked more luxurious, and included a hair accessory more intricate than ribbons, tights, and better shoes as well as a charm for the same price. The bloomers that the meet outfit includes doesn't make up the gap. But this new meet outfit is going to be an iconic piece, IMO , and I really wanted it in my collection.
That has the colors it does makes a lot of the accessories that the new Samantha collection has go well with it. Samantha's old meet accessories look great with it as well, as do the accessories and pinafore of her old Birthday outfit.
