I also picked this up with the Project Runway Free Shipping Code, mainly for the hat. For a rich girl, I never thought AG gave Samantha enough hats! I'm definitely not disappointed. It's a straw boater with a pink striped grosgrain ribbon and a large pink flower. The hat's held on by elastic - no worrying that it'll fall off during play or won't fit over elaborate hairstyles. Sam looks so darn cute in it. It's versatile, too. It matches a lot of her dresses, including both meet outfits, her current Bicycling Outfit, her Frilly Frock, and her Tea Dress.
The ribbon is a bow version of the striped ribbon on the hat, mounted on a scrunchie. Little hands aren't the only ones that appreciate the change. As cute as her original big ribbons were, I'm not especially good at tying bows. This is a lot easier and faster. As with the hat, the ribbon can be used for many different outfits, and probably by modern girls in pink as well.
I get the feeling the brush was tossed in to justify the $22 cost. I would have preferred a second ribbon, maybe in white or burgundy, or some trim for the hat. As it is, the brush is heavier than I thought it would be, but it's still plastic, and it won't really brush much of Sam's hair. It looks cute, but not much else.
I only recommend this if you really wanted the hat like I did. Otherwise, it's cute and well-made but not really necessary.
