Grace's Opening-Night Outfit for Dolls
A shimmery sequined pink dress with a mesh overlay on the skirt and a black velveteen waistband
Strappy black-and-silver shoes
A black headband with a fluffy pink mesh fan on the side
It would be easy to become jaded and think "Pink? Sequins? Tulle? Haven't we all seen a lot of all of this recently?" However, this dress is sweet and utterly classic.
The dress slipped on easily and the slightly capped short sleeves have elastic at the ends which also helps with getting the dress onto the doll. The dress has an attached black velveteen ribbon at the waist. The mesh tulle layers are cut in a scalloped shape which is quite eye catching.
The shoes are particularly well constructed. There are no zippers, buckles, or velcro tabs, but they slip on easily thanks to hidden elastic inside the side straps.
The hair piece with the fan of tulle is a excessively jaunty, but it is a well constructed piece of flair.
I have only positive things to say about the construction and design of this dress. It does revisit the well travelled pink-sequin-tulle world, but because of the classic elements of the dress itself, I think this dress will be fun and fresh for years to come. Overall grade: A
