$38 for this dress, headband and sandals. For that price, it had better be a mighty fine dress with stellar accessories. This started out as full priced splurge for my sweet Truly (46), but I immediately returned the dress when an in-store $10 off $50 deal was offered the same day my package arrived. To buy this dress full price at the AGNYC store means laying out over $40 with tax. For the same price, one can get one of the BF Special Edition sets. Does this measure up?
Nope. Not IMO. It is a very pretty dress, more tightly put together than other pink AG dresses, notably Samantha's (meet and Frilly Frock) and Kit's (Easter dress), all pink dresses. But then, this is a modern dress, and so a little extra sophistication is expected, one would think. It will look good on most any doll and fits nicely, good quality, good workmanship, and can be worn by the more sophisticated "older" doll as well as a little girl doll which my sweet Truly is. The black velvet dress jacket from 2013 holiday wear would be perfect with this dress. Nice layers, nice fabrics, sequins, tulle, the whole thing to make this a very special wear dress. My Truly is very spoiled. It's a shorter length than many of AG's dresses and does have a very trim fit to it. It makes any doll look terrific.
The hair band is nothing special, just tulle put on a satin covered head band. The sandals, I like a lot. the best of Graces' footwear to come with her outfits, other than her boots. But this is not a $38 ensemble. I'm embarrassed that I validated this pricing with my full price order of it. I think adding some semi sheer tights either in a frost, ice pink or black would have taken the edge off the cost, though it would have still stung, and I'd have given it an A-.And a handbag and necklace would bring it up to an A BUt due to lack of value for the ask price, I have to give it a B+. The + is for the quality in construction and detail on part of the dress, as well as the chic sandals that are a break from the usual AG "footfare".
