Birthday Outfit

"Bet your American Girl makes a birthday wish for a fresh-fruit slipdress, jelly sandals, and a crisp white T-shirt to wear on her special day. Twist the beaded ponytail wrap in her hair and she’s ready to say “Cheese!” in every birthday snapshot."
This is a cute dress for everyday and not just for parties! The dress is rayon and wrinkles easily, but it is such a cute style. It's rather wide on Mattel dolls. The buttons in the front are just for show as it has a velcro closure in the back.
The shirt is cotton with purple edging around the sleeves and neck. It closes in the back with velcro. There is fruit motif screen print on the front.

The jelly shoes are so cute! They are pretty thick clear purple rubber and seem to be sturdy enough to last through quite a bit of play time. The hair elastic has dangling pink and purple beads around it.
Very nicely made. Looks good on everyone. Grade A.
ETA: I just noticed in the Holiday 1998 catalogue that the shirt with this dress doesn't show any fruit on the front. Maybe it originally didn't have fruit or it's just printed down too low on the shirt to be seen. Anyway, fruit on the shirt is not in the AG description as noted at the beginning of my review.
