Rebecca's Director Set
Item #BKF73
$75
Rebecca dreams of becoming an actress someday. Authentic to 1914, this moviemaking set includes:
•A director’s chair with a canvas seat and a big gold star
•A megaphone with “DIRECTOR” printed on the side
•A focus board to write the details of a scene before the actors begin, with a cloth to erase it
•Pages from the script for Rebecca’s movie, based on actual scripts from the era
•A mini replica of a real 1914 movie poster from The Perils of Pauline, a hit film that Rebecca wants to see
•A mini movie magazine modeled on those from Rebecca’s day
•Title cards, which were used before movies had sound so audiences could read the dialogue on-screen
•Movie tickets that Rebecca keeps as mementos of films she’s seen 8.jpg" style="max-width:100%;"][/a]
Chair: A
Solid piece. Not at all flimsy. Holds the doll well. Can fold up decently flat for storage.
Megaphone: B
Cute display piece. I was kind of "meh" about it overall.
Focus Board: A
Very cute & really added to the set. I could see using it in iPhone AG movies or something.
Script Pages: B
I like that they included a script, as I think that will encourage play with the set, but I wish it had been attached somehow. I only had the set out for a few minutes and was afraid I was going to lose one of the pages.
Movie Poster: A-
Adorable! Just wish it was a bit sturdier.
Magazine: A
A different version of the two included in Rebecca's Costume Chest. Of all the pieces in this set, this was the one I actually liked the most. I liked that it went with the others in Rebecca's collection.
Title Cards: B
These are super cute for play! However.. they're not numbered! I guess that encourages some creativity, but as a child, that would have driven me crazy!
Movie Tickets: A
Cute. I like the colors and that they're different styles.
Overall: B-
SO. MUCH. PAPER.
So I bought this set full price. I got home, I opened it. It was cute for all of about 30 minutes and then I was like, I seriously just spent $75 on this? It was returned on my next trip to AGP. It is a cute set for play, and if you like making little AG movies or shorts, it's fabulous! But it's something in Rebecca's collection that I think can be skipped. It's gone on sale multiple times now since I bought it and I haven't felt the urge to buy it again.
