Easter Accessories (retired)

This set was released along with Melody’s Daisy Dress in February 2020. I used rewards to get it for free, but it has a lot of nice features that make it worth purchasing.


The hat is made of white paper straw. The brim seems smaller in real life than it looks on the doll in pictures. It has an elastic band that goes under the chin; I didn’t notice it at first, so I don’t have pictures of Cécile wearing it like that. A ribbon is tied around the hat and into a bow in the back, with the loose ends left trailing. Grade: A

The cardigan is snowy white and very soft. There’s sort of a loose cable pattern in the knit (there might be a better name for this, but it’s the best way I know how to describe it). You can see a hint of the underlying colors when the doll is wearing it. It closes with four functional buttons and buttonholes in the front. As other reviewers have mentioned, the top one has a messy finish where the neckline is stitched to the rest of the sweater, which bothers me more than it really should.



The cardigan is very stretchy, and while the sweater is easy enough to get on and button up, I think it ends up looking a little overly snug on the doll, so I prefer it unbuttoned (even with the messiness at the top)or draped over her shoulders. (I don’t know if this was the style in Melody’s time, so this is just my personal preference.) I also wish it were a bit longer to cover the bow at the back of the dress, but again, this is just my personal preference. Grade: B-

The Easter basket is adorable. It seems durable and well made, and although I didn’t anticipate it, it’s actually one of my favorite parts of this set. It comes with Easter grass, which is removable. The basket is about 3.25 inches tall including the handle, and about 3 inches across. Grade: A

The blue, pink, and purple trio of eggs is clumped together. Each egg measures about 1 inch in length. Grade: B-


The chocolate bunny is just like the ones in Kit’s Candy Making set. It’s kind of tall (3.25 inches) for the basket, but the doll can hold it if you position it just right in her hand. Grade: B

(Kit’s bunny is on the left in these photos, and Melody’s is on the right. The only difference I see is a slight color difference.)

Overall, despite some of the flaws with the sweater in particular, I think this is a really cute set, with many pieces that would be important to Melody. I’d give it a B or B+ at full price, and raise the grade if purchased on sale.
