I want to add that I picked up a doll still in its box that came with this card. It appears that some dolls came with this, which offers a free pair of flats for those dolls that came with Mary Janes. It seems that AG was well aware of the staining issue and packaged dolls with the plastic Mary Janes as a result- they promise free flats after February 1, 1996. I wonder if that ever happened or if the company completely nixed the idea. Yes, that did actually happen. I filled out that card when I was a kid, sent it, and did in fact receive a pair of black suede flats, which my original GT13 still has to this day. I also have the original shoes which, as long as you don't leave them on or near warm surfaces, are fine. The problem was that the plastic had a bad tendency to melt, which could leave stains. That happened with a few of the early items, including one of Kirsten's fish, which distressingly melted itself onto a doll-sized clothes hanger. Fortunately, the shoes were kept cool enough that they've remained in one piece.
