I'm French and don't understand much to American football except for the fact that it's some kind of rugby played forward instead of backward, but I was an exchange student in Boston in 2015 when the New England Patriots won the Superball. I loved discovering this tradition of food, ads, games, people coming together and the euphoria seizing the city after the local team victory. These are memories I cherish and so I wanted this outfit for my personal collection as a souvenir. Although it won't ship outside the US and Canada from the AG website, it will, from Amazon, which is where I got it during a nice 30% sale.
What I really like about this outfit is the number of pieces, a lot of which have a great mix and match potential, so it doesn't have to be "just" a cheer outfit. Overall it offers a cohesive look, the quintessential "American cheerleader" one.
The uniform is made of a stretchy, clingy, thick material. It's tight and probably won't fit the chubbier girls. I wish it was a tad bit bigger, to hang better on the doll (featured here is a #115 bought in March 2024). Putting the sleeves on was a bit annoying. It still feels high quality : the different colors are pieced, not printed, and the prints themselves are crisp and clear and jsut thick enough that you'll know it'll be durable.
It's short but not too short. it closes in the back with the soft kind of velcro.
That bow reminds me of a Christmas tree decoration. I like it a lot. It's attached to a small hair elastic and easy to put on, even on a girl with a full mane of curly hair like #115.
The briefs are made of the same thick, stretchy navy material as the uniform. It looks smaller and feels tighter than the cotton panties Truly Me dolls come with, and was also a bit annoying to put on. I think it will be very durable. Could almost pass for a swim suit bottom.
I mostly sew my dolls' wardrobes, so getting great shoes with a mix and match potential when I (rarely) buy AG outfits is very important to me. These do the job wonderfully, from the basic little white socks to the very pretty yet simple white sneakers. They have elastic laces and are easy to put on. The topstitching is perfect. Love them.
The pompoms are sewed to hair elastics through a plastic button, which makes them easy to pose while hidind the elastic to photograph, and they hold well in a doll's hand. They are fluffy enough to me. A fun accessory.
