We purchased this set when it was first introduced and my granddaughter and I still play with it. It's one of her favorite pieces, as there is quite a lot to the set. The stand itself is quite heavy and sturdy. I thought it might be tippy, but the curved shape keeps it standing firmly. The poles and banner aren't permanently attached and can easily be removed for a more versatile piece. With those removed, only two 1/4 " diameter smooth round holes show and can easily be concealed with the register and food pieces. Without the top part, it can become almost any kind of store or check-out counter.
The cash register opens with a gentle push of the button and our only concern with that is that there is virtually no clearance for the "money" inside. We put in just one or two bills at a time so they don't get stuck. The included bills are printed on one side only.
The food items are very well detailed. The pretzel bags have foam inside to hold their shape. The cotton candy is fleece and since I thought it would get ratty pretty quickly, I wrapped each in a clear plastic bag. It looks even more realistic that way, too.
I am not a big fan of plastic, but would still grade this set an "A" for it's versatility and playability. Lin
