Julie’s meet outfit is one of my favorite Julie outfits and it’s probably the most versatile. The set comes with a long sleeved shirt, white tunic-style top, jeans, belt, sandals, and underwear.
Given the recent track record, I think it’s wonderful that Julie’s meet outfit comes with two detached tops. Although I wouldn’t use the tunic on its own (without a shirt underneath), my girls find it a perfectly acceptable top. The tunic is made a nice soft, light weight fabric. I really like the blue and brown embroidery. It really adds a lot to the top. The top could also work for modern dolls. That style seems to be relatively trendy right now.
The long sleeved top is very soft and versatile. It particularly looks nice with jeans and denim overalls. This top could also work for modern dolls.
If a doll was only going to have one pair of full length pants, jeans are a good option. I would prefer solid colored jeans, but these still match essentially everything.
The belt is three pieces of lightweight, braided synthetic leather with beads knotted and sewn on the end. The beads are stationary. Although it’s not really necessary, it’s a nice accent accessory. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was revised and the beads were removed in the future.
Julie’s sandals are slip-ons with a clear strip in the back. I’m worried that the strap will break or stretch-out with time, but they’re nice nonetheless. They come in handy with all of Julie’s warm weather outfits. However, they do want to slip off her feet.
It is interesting that Julies sandals were revised early in her production. Most of the sandals have solid bottoms. However, some early Julie’s have printed cork bottom shoes. I’ve heard only pre-ordered Julie’s have cork bottomed shoes. However, this isn’t the case. Also, not all the original release Julie dolls have cork bottom shoes. Thus, this isn’t a foolproof way to “date” a Julie doll.
