Party Table with Cushions (2005-2006)

I've always liked the Asian vibe of this set, so most of my photos tend to feature it in that context.



It is, however, very versatile - enough so that I've also used it for classroom settings.



The low table has a light blue glossy surface. The color always seemed a bit of an odd choice to me, but it was meant to coordinate with the Butterfly Party accessories that came out at the same time. I remember a lot of people talking about trying to repaint the surface black, but don't know if anyone actually did that. The table is sturdy but light, and I think it's generously sized to hold a lot of stuff on the surface. The two cushions are well-stuffed but it can sometimes be a challenge to keep a doll sitting up on them if she's prone to floppiness. It works fine to put a doll on the floor if you'd rather not have her perched on a cushion. Theoretically you ought to be able to fit four dolls between the curlique 'legs' of the table, but I have only tried to squeeze three since I prefer using cushions and managed to score an extra once. Three dolls have do some clever maneuvering of legs to fit but I personally think this is true at all of AG's tables, since the dolls don't have bendy knees.

Overall I think this is a great versatile table for the JLY line. It's held up well and my grade is an A-, the minus being for the color and my wish that the cushions had a little bit of a back to them to support the dolls (putting practicality before aesthetics here).
