Mattel version reviews
I just got this today and it looks as if it has changed from the original. Mine came from AG in an exchange and the main part of the outfit is a leotard, not a shirt and bloomers. The ends of the sleeves and the piping around the neck is just gray, not the combination of red and gray as seen in the above picture. The skirt waistband is now gray and not red.
It came with one white pair of socks and her little black patent tap shoes. The tap shoes are very well done. I'm entertaining myself sitting here clanging them together. The black bow on the front of the shoe does not tie. It's just decoration over top of the elastic.
Headband is still flimsy paper attached to elastic around the back of her head.
Overall I give it an A. If they were going to just attach paper to elastic, they could have left out the crown/headband. They put more effort into the headband for the sweet sequins accessories than they did this.
Molly's Miss Victory Costume - Mattel
Grade: C+
Pro's: Well, I guess it's cute! (ok.... only sort of)
Con's: Didn't fit. Cheap material. I dislike it very much.
Detailed Review: I bought this outfit direct from American Girl on sale and was extremely disappointed. The outfit did not fit my Molly (she is Pre-Mattel) and the fabric is stiff and gross! It's very cheap. I was expecting better quality for my money, and judging by the poor quality I will take my $$ elsewhere.... This should be made in a Satin/silk type fabric that flows! How is Molly suppose to dance in a pristine, starched dance costume? It's just silly!
I returned the outfit.
Maybe the Pre-Mattel version is better than the Mattel one.
