I just got this piece. I mostly agree with the above but I believe the base is the same wood as the rest of the chifforobe.
I really wish the clothing rod went all the way across. That's the only thing I found really disappointing; I didn't realize it was only a half rod. It's a nice, sturdy piece of furniture though so I am glad overall that I got it. My Molly's collection long ago outgrew her trunk.
