My daughter purchased this doll at AGP-NY two weeks after it was released. She had originally wanted another doll that the store did not yet have in stock, but quickly switched allegiance when she saw this doll in person. The funny thing is, we accidentally picked up a JLY-37 (red hair, green eyes) and for a moment thought we had the doll she wanted (give us a break - the doll's eyes were closed). The caramel coloring is a very pretty shade, but unless you have the doll beside one of the red haired dolls, I think it is easy to get them confused.
This doll has the light blue eyes we are used to from AG, beginning with Kirsten on through the ages. I think she would have been striking with the dark blue eyes of Nellie, Kit, and JLY-27, and the dark blue would have distinguished her from another doll she resembles, JLY- 23. Granted that their hair color is different, plus 23 has freckles, but a casual observer could be forgiven for mistaking them. It would also have distinguished her from Nicki, whom she of course also resembles (and that is no manufacturing accident). So IMO, dark blue eyes on this doll would have been a great variation.
Still, no one consulted me during the design process. And you don't care -- you want photos, right? Here you go:

Note the pronounced layering of her hair. That's another thing that sets her apart from JLY-23. It also makes styling a little challenging. Here she is in braids and pigtails, done so she has a minimum of fly-away short hairs:

Back of the head:

Bonus shot with Mia. The hair coloring is definitely not red like Mia's but there's a resemblance.

This is my daughter's doll. She loves her and rates her an A. Because she is so reminiscent of other dolls, and because I value unique and diverse looks, I have to give her an A-. She is definitely a lovely doll with a very good wig as described in operaghost's review, and has no structural problems. She's just not unique enough to make me want to add her to my personal collection.
