Julie's Banana Seat Bike Item# F9984 $80 (price increase to $100 January 2012)
America celebrated its Bicentennial in Julie’s day, and her patriotic bike is perfect for a neighborhood parade. It features a striped banana seat, streamers on the handlebars, and starry decorations on the rolling wheels. Includes a '70s-style California license plate and a faux-woven basket trimmed with flowers. The above review and photos are great. I just wanted to add that the 'chain' is made of rubbery plastic. The gear is metal though. As stated above, neither move nor turn in any way. The tires are rubber and very realistic. The banana seat is plastic instead of padded vinyl as it would have been in real life. The streamers are not plastic, but pieces of satin ribbon like hair ribbons. The front wheel measures 5" in diameter and the rear wheel is 6 1/2" in diameter. I only remember the different sized wheels on trick bikes, not standard Sting Ray bicycles. Also the front tire has tread and the rear tire is a 'racing slick' or treadless. Another indication that this is copied from a racing/trick bicycle. Over-all still a great, fun bike. Just like mine in the '70s. Grade A. ETA: Scan of the paper that accompanies Julie's bike explaining why she doesn't wear a helmet.
