Molly's collection is sometimes characterized as not very feminine. I suppose this outfit is one of the items so accused because of its subdued, 'mannish' colors. When it debuted, it made Molly the first Historical doll to ever wear pants. Mannish or not, this is truly a well-made, comfortable outfit. I can totally imagine a 10 year old wearing it while curled up in her favorite easy chair to read. I love the accurate side entry to the pants, and the pleats. Shirt is comfy and soft, and the contrasting (and functional!) red buttons just scream "Molly!" to me. This is really a unique outfit and I consider it an essential for Molly's collection since her books portray her wearing it so often (or variations of the same type of outfit, sometimes with jeans instead of cords). I do agree that the high waist of the pants can present a tight fit. That's true especially if you tuck in the shirt, which I like to do because it shows the great waist of the pants. Our Molly wears her cotton briefs from her underwear set, so that helps with fit. Other than that drawback, this outfit has held up well over the years and remains one of my daughter's faves for her Molly. Grade A- due to fit issues. This outfit was retired in 2006 but comes up fairly often on eBay, for not too much more than retail.
