Ok, so I'm going to cheat a little on this one. I got a TLC #4 with silver eye and a not so bad haircut. I decided that since she needed to go to the hospital I'd just pay and get a new head put on her. I requested the newer style head, with the skin part and thinner fringe. I'm very pleased with it, so my review is going to based on 4 in general, and the newer head.
The coloring on the new heads is very much present. The lips are a peachy pink, which, on a make up review thread might be a little darker than a shade being refered to as my lips, but better. The blushing on this particular example of a #4 is lighter than some dolls I have, but darker than my older early PC girls.
Her hair is thinner than my older #4s, but glossier and less flyaway. The new style bangs give the doll a fresh look. This wig also appears to part better in the back for pig tail styles.
Overall, I'm very pleased I opted to get the new head, and pleased with this new hair style.
