This is the first time ever that I've been certain so early in the year that I wanted a GoTY. Having read so many reports lately of dolls arriving with different length legs, loose limbs etc I was a bit nervous as I waited for Lanie to arrive. She came yesterday and I'm thrilled to pieces with her.
My Lanie, thankfully, is nicely balanced, stands beautifully and can sit pretty well too.
(not leaning against the wall)
She feels nice in the hands... Her joints move easily, don't squeak, creak or click as some others of my dolls' do, either. Interestingly (to me anyway!) the shipping box wasn't marked from Middleton, WI but Deforest (I think), WI.
She has the prettiest face and beautiful hazel eyes. Lanie's hair was kind of 'squished' into the hairnet but once that was carefully taken off (mine wasn't sewn anywhere thank goodness) and I fluffed her hair out a bit, it was fine.
BOY is her hair curly!! I noticed the wig has quite a lot of short pieces underneath, but not so many at the back where they would have been most useful. My Chrissa's wig is a bit like that too. Lanie's wig is not as thin as I was afraid it would be, though: I think if it was much thicker it would be hard to handle all those curls.
The headband is rather tight. I took it off to rearrange Lanie's sidebangs to my satisfaction and had trouble getting it back on. I'm glad I got the sparkly hair pick. I have the earlier not-so-wide red one that didn't seem useful at all, but I tried the new pick and it was fine. I really doubt I'll be doing alot of brushing/picking of Lanie's hair, but will most likely finger comb it. When I ordered Lanie, the first thing the CS said was, 'you know that she has curly hair and you will need to use a hair pick not a brush?'
Meet outfit: There's not alot of it, but it feels like good quality fabric. The dress is well made, nicely finished and looks crisp and fresh. The green and blue suit Lanie beautifully. The shoes are awfully cute and look like ones available in shoe shops for girls that age. It would have been nice if AG had given Lanie a jacket or something though.
I have to give Lanie a big A+++. This girl is just gorgeous.
My only other hazel eyed girl is Mia. Looking at them together I fancy that Lanie's eyes are slightly greener and Mia's slightly browner hazel. It could be a trick of the light, or the effect of the dolls' different colouring...or just my imagination. I'm not sure. I took a couple of comparison shots:
