I love Molly's school desk and agree about it being timeless. I also sat at one that was almost identical when I was at school in the 70s... which is why it appealed to me. I got mine from a fellow board member and am thrilled to bits with it. It's such a beautiful, quality piece, sturdy smooth wood and metal as AGR describes.
The seat swivels from side to side.
One thing I noticed is that because the desk lid is angled down (as you would expect since so are the full size ones) Georgia's binder (actually it's Alex's if we're being pedantic) had a tendency to slide down the desk. It's an easy fix if one or both of the doll's hands are there to 'catch' an errant binder or book.
Georgia is one of my dolls who doesn't sit quite as well as others but I had very little trouble putting her to sit at the desk.
I put Lindsey, who DOES sit extremely well, at the desk as well in case the comparison was any use.
Have I mentioned I love this piece of doll furniture? I would recommend it to anyone contemplating buying it. A+ for sure
