This outfit immediately struck my interest when it debuted in the fall of 2009. I’m a penguin fanatic and was eager to share the penguin love with the 18” crew. The polyester knit pajamas look and fit as nicely as they do in the pictures. They have quickly become some of my favorite, if not my favorite, JLY pajamas.
Top: The long-sleeved top fits nicely on most PC and AG dolls. It has appropriate-sized ruching in front that doesn’t overpower the rest of the outfit . Although I haven’t tried, it looks like the penguin, snowflakes, and American Girl logo could be removed if the purchaser desired.
Bottoms: The “penguin-ful” polyester pants (I’ll give you a tongue-twister there) are soft and very cheery looking. They have an elastic waist and fit most PC/AG dolls.
Slippers: The fuzzy, black slippers have sewn on fuzzy, white faces with embroidered eyes and beaks. They fit well, look quite comfy, and are probably my favorite part of the set. The straps in back serve their purpose for now, but will probably stretch out or break with time.
Book: The book contains wintery, eco-friendly crafts. The crafts include: mitten ornaments, paper trees, container planters, bracelets, decorated boxes, frames, MP3 player socks, wrist warmers, mini notebooks, photo frames, decorated containers, and photo, gift box ornaments. There are also a few gift wrapping ideas. Although some of these ideas and activities are pretty much common sense and/or have appeared in the AG magazine, it’s worth flipping through.
