One thing that bed always reminds me of: how couples were encouraged to sleep in twin beds for public health reasons (to stop the spread of disease.) Rob and Laura slept in separate beds in the 60's. Lucy and Ricky bucked convention and slept (gasp) together on their show in the 50's. Molly's bed looks like one of a pair to me.
In the book illustrations, she has 2 in her room....and that is how my grandmother had hers as well.
