Kwanzaa Outfit (1996-1999)

I love the fabric of this set, it is vibrant, beautiful green and rusty orange with metallic shimmery gold, lovely. I have always felt the simplicity of the caftan was a bit, well, simple, especially when placed on a solid doll body. So, I have added some bits- I used the headband from the African Dance Outfit of Today's elasticized headband, folded so just the middle shows as a belt. I cut slits in the front of the caftan, snipped through the elastic of the head band , and threaded it through as a belt. Addy is also wearing the gold cuff from the set:
I tried it with the plastic and nylon webbing choker and bracelet from the ADOoT, but that was a little too much:
I modified the headwrap too because the original one was always too skimpy to "tuck the end of the wrap so it covers Addy's hair." No way, I have tugged, pulled, and adjusted and have never gotten it to fit. Addy's headwrap here is comprised of 3 pieces- the originally wrapped headwrap, another headwrap tucked into the top, and another dress folded and tied around the original headwrap for texture and elegance.
