This item was released in 2002 and retired in 2008.
During winter, Kaya makes things she’ll use and wear all year long. A real leather bag holds everything you need to help Kaya make a painted saddle bag and a necklace: real leather and leather fringe, an awl, two wooden needles and pretend sinew, real leather cord, and beads in a plastic shell.

I wasn't all sure I would like this set. I wasn't sure if it was a kit for girls to make something and then toss the left overs or if it really was going to be something cool. Now after opening it, I can say it is pretty cool. the set contains all you need to make a necklace, and a bag to hang off her saddle. It comes with some pretty clear looking directions for girls to make the items. After my daughter has had a chance to look it over, and work on it, I will give you a 9 year olds perspective.
I think it is a shame that they didn't provide a real shell and real dentalium shells for girls to work with. I can understand not having the quils for girls to use. I guess it can spark an interest for girls to get and make items with the real thing. I think it would have been nice for them to have provided paints for the girls to paint it themselves.
I like that even after you have items for girls to still use for play. I rate this a B.
