This outfit is worn by Addy in the books Addy Learns a Lesson and Changes for Addy as well as the short stories "High Hopes for Addy" and "Addy Studies Freedom." Released in 1993, retired in 2006.
Inspired by Civil War uniforms of the day, Addy’s blue suit has a white blouse, a flared skirt, and a fitted jacket lined with fabric scraps from Mrs. Ford’s shop, where Momma worked. Polish up the medal Addy won in the spelling match and pin it proudly to her jacket. It says “Millions for freedom, not one cent for slavery.”
Oh wow! Wow! This is a really fantastic outfit for Addy (or for any of your girls) It is made of thick blue material (felt-ish) and the black trim is just so sweet and really adds a nice contrast. I LOOOOVE how the white blouse underneath pokes out from the bell sleeved of the suit jacket. The lining on the skirt and jacket are different swatches of fabric so you really get the feel for how Addy's Momma made this from scraps of fabric from the fabric shop.
The little medal is just SO darling too! This is one of my absolutely favorite outfits!!! The craftsmanship is just wonderful!!!
Grade: A++++ ;D
