This outfit is worn by Kirsten in the book Kirsten Learns a Lesson. Released in 1986, retired with archival in 2009.
Mrs. Larson probably made Kirsten’s red-print school dress out of leftover material from her own dress—the first mother-daughter styles! Since girls didn’t wear jackets, Kirsten has a plaid shawl that you can tie around her so she won’t get cold on her long walk to school across the prairie. Her outfit includes dark blue woven hair ribbons.
Review: I love how Kirsten looks in this dress. The dress is made from a heavier cotton material (to resemble Calico I suppose?) I also love the little shawl, it is a very nice touch. My only complaint with this set is that the shawl feels cheap... a little slippery even. I thought it would be thicker and more "woolen" like her napkin from her school lunch...
