This coat is okay, but it’s a lot cuter off Kirsten. The quality isn’t that great either. Although the catalog says that the coat is made of wool, it seems like it’s actually some sort of synthetic fleece material. The coat is not lined and feels quite “Mattelish”. The coat fits okay on the pre-Mattel Kirstens I tried it on, but not great. The metal hook is quite stressed. I thought the coat looked the best with Kirsten’s summer dress.
The hat is cute and nicely made. It looks nice with most of Kirsten’s primary colored dresses. The beanbags and target are also cute and I’m glad that Kirsten has another toy.
I’m not an historical clothing expert by any means, but believe that the style of this coat is a little early for Kirsten’s time. It may have been a little more appropriate during Addy’s time or later. So, although I dislike dressing my girls in each other’s clothes, I tried the coat on Addy. It was adorable on her.
Overall, I’d say the coat isn’t anything special, but is worth getting to complete your Kirsten collection. It is also nice for your deprived Addy doll.
