The original set is really nice, minus the hat. The flocked hat is a basic doll hat with added ribbons. The ribbons make it too fussy and I don't care for the color combination. The purse doesn't get used much but it's a handy storage place for Samantha's hankie and penny. The purse has real mental closures and clips shut like a real purse should do-no velcro. The hankie is embroidered. The metal locket is amazing. It pins on to the heavy fabric of her cape. The pictures of Samantha's parents don't stay in and get lost. The locket doesn't have any covering over the picture openings.
My sister managed to lose the real penny and the pictures of her mom and dad. I got them as a replacement part and was disappointed the replacement penny is a reproduction and it didn't come with any historical background information.
