This set is one of my favorites from Kit's collection. Christmas is my favorite holiday, but I don't think that influenced my opinion *too* much. The waffle iron itself is delightful - the porcelain and metal is authentic and heavy, and the fabric electrical cord is one of those details that just completes the piece. One complaint I have is that one of the screws has come loose in my iron, so it's now hinged only on one side - I have no idea what happened to the other screw.
The depression-era milk-glass-looking plate is beautiful, especially with the ribbon trim. And the waffles are rubbery, but I like that they actually go into the iron and don't slide off the plate, as rexphiles mentioned. The cinnamon-sprinkled whipped cream is a nice touch, and the recipe cards are real recipes that will work!
The evergreen sprigs are a nice touch, but not essential by any means. You can probably make a close approximation with similar Christmas decorations. If you see a set on ebay that's complete but without the evergreen sprigs, I wouldn't hesitate to get the set!
Well worth the money - I spent about $10 more than retail value on ebay right after it was retired, when I didn't know about asking if there were any left at AGPs or at the outlets. Though I wish I had known about the other avenues, it was worth it to me!
