This outfit was worn by Molly in the book Molly Learns a Lesson and variations in Molly's Surprise and Happy Birthday, Molly!, as well as short stories "Molly's A+ Partner" and "Molly & the Movie Star." Molly also wears this outfit in the movie Molly: An American Girl on the Home Front. The outfit was introduced in 1991 and retired in 2006.
Whether she was working in the Victory Garden or collecting bottle caps for the Lend-A-Hand contest, Molly always changed out of her school clothes and into this play outfit. Tuck her plaid flannel shirt into her blue corduroy pants and trim her braids with smart blue ribbons. Whether she’s raking leaves or planting turnips (Yuk!) in the Victory Garden, she’ll be comfortable.
I snagged a PC tagged outfit on ebay for $19.99. The seller even refunded $1.00 since shipping was cheaper than she had listed. This outfit is SO cute! The shirt is navy, green, red and off white plaid. It is made from a lightweight flannel and buttons with REAL tiny red buttons. The pants are nice mid-weight corderoy and have two little faux buttons on the side. They close with velcro on one side. The pants also look cute with Molly's camp Gowonagain shirt.
Negatives: The pants just BARELY fit Susanna (Gotz Little Sisters). I couldn't button them properly on her and the wrists on the shirt were a bit tight. This outfit was missing the hair ribbons.
