This outfit was worn by Molly in the book Molly Learns a Lesson. It can also be seen in Changes for Molly, the short story "Molly's A+ Partner," and in the book Brave Emily. It was sold as Molly's Plaid Jumper & Blouse from 1986 to 2009, and then the name changed to Molly's School Outfit in January 2009. It retired in 2011. It was rereleased as Molly's Plaid School Outfit on June 1st, 2022. The rereleased set went on clearance in December 2023, and sold out on January 21st, 2024.
Plaid Jumper & Blouse: Molly certainly looks smart for school in her plaid jumper with crisp box pleats. Under it, she wears a white cotton blouse with buttons in front and lace trim around the cuffs and Peter Pan collar. Tie the green hair ribbons around her braids for the finishing touch.
Plaid School Outfit: Molly loves third grade—especially her teacher, Miss Campbell! On school days, she wears this outfit that includes: A white cotton blouse with a button front, lace trim on the cuffs, and a Peter Pan collar, A green, red, and white plaid jumper with box pleats on the skirt, Two green hair ribbons to tie around the ends of her braids, A pair of white ankle socks, A pair of red-and-white saddle shoes with white laces.
Here's a review for Molly's plaid jumper and blouse, which is her school outfit.
This is a very simple but classic school ensemble. First, there is Molly's blouse, which has small lace trim and two little buttons in the front. It also has a Peter Pan collar. It fastens with Velcro in the back of the shirt and also around the wrists.
Next, there is her jumper. It has a nice red, green, and white plaid pattern on it, and the skirt part of it has box pleats. Like the blouse, the jumper fastens in back with Velcro. I believe it is long enough to go right under Molly's kness.
Last are Molly's green hair ribbons. I think they are made of satin? The ribbons are a nice touch and complete this outfit.
I just wish the jumper were made of a slightly more stiffer material, since I think it can wrinkle easily if you're not careful. Also, I think the blouse is slightly tight around Molly's neck, but it may depend on the blouse you get or how chubby your doll is.

(This picture doesn't feature the green hair ribbons, but you get the idea.)
Overall, I would recommend this outfit. It is nice and old-fashioned, and it fits in perfectly with the fashions of Molly's era.
