Molly's wooden Drop-Leaf Table & Chairs is associated with the book, Happy Birthday, Molly! The set was introduced in 1987 and retired in Spring 2000, when it was replaced by Molly's Chrome Table & Chairs.
A drop-leaf table is cozy enough for one or two and big enough for a whole party of friends! A practical piece of furniture found in almost every dining room in the ’40s, yours is made of pine with a warm walnut finish. It has two leaves to fold up and down as you play. And there’s a pair of sturdy chairs with turned legs to match the table in the early American style that was popular when Molly was growing up.
I just got these yesterday after winning them on eBay for a GREAT price and I am thrilled beyond words. They are gorgeous and very well made and look exactly like the two drop leaf tables I have in my condo. Why did this set have to be retired? I like the new table and chairs well enough but don't think they look like something a thrifty war-time family would have.
