I think this item is absolutely adorable and has amazing play value. It's the right scale for American Girls -- really quite big actually. The board was on deep clearance last summer for only $12 on the AG website, although it goes for more on EBAY now since the HSH line is retired. At $12, it was an awesome value for the money.
One side is a chalk board, the other a magnetized dry erase board to use with the magnetized alphabet (all caps) that are included. It also includes a detachable pull-down map and daily schedule, tons of clingy stickers, 2 pieces of chalk, 2 doll-scale blackboard erasers, and a people-sized dry erase marker. There is a little tray on the bottom with a lid for storage. The clingy stickers are the low point for this item because they really aren't that reusable, and tend to fall off during play. But overall, I give this item a resounding A!
