Photo of Phoebe fresh from the box in 2006: I have to say that she is really my favorite of the JLY dolls that I have. Her hair has held up and I've had fun developing her very spirited personality. She developed a retracting eyelash a few months after I got her, which necessitated a trip to the AG Hospital for an eye replacement (covered as a manufacturing defect). She's been fine since. It wasn't her fault that she had a bum eye so that won't affect my grade of her...which is a resounding A. But I am not sure how well this doll holds up to little girl play, given the springy curls. They're pretty durable, but if a child doesn't know to finger curl and spritz I could imagine they'd get ratty quickly. They do for me as a grown-up! So I personally would NOT recommend this doll for a young child, and only for a very careful older one who cares for her dolls meticulously. The hair can get very flyaway over the course of normal play. I get out my handy bottle of synthetic hair conditioner and soak and brush and re-twist each curl regularly. It takes a little to do but the results are worth it. Not out-of-box perfect, but no one's hair is perfect. Normal maintenance is water spritz and finger re-twirl. Never brush, never pick. Still my all-time favorite JLY!
